Why did he even get such a sweet plea deal. What did his girl do with the documents? Probably sold them for nefarious purposes. If you want a definition of treason, that is it. But he worked for Obama so give him a plea What Trump does and does not do is not relevant. What’s relevant is equal application of law. Here we have a man that literally sold classified documents for sex and gets off lightly, while Trump allegedly said “look at these secret documents” (Lordy there are tapes ![]() |
Should selling classified documents for sex be considered espionage? |
Biden, as then senator and then VP, had classified documents that he could not have declassified at any point in time. So he should be arrested right? |
No. Like Pence they did not knowingly have classified documents. They cooperated fully when asked and the documents were secured. And had Trump done that, he would not be indicted. |
Trump had the power to follow a very well-defined process to declassify. I'm not sure whether you could that needing permission or not. |
Trump was planing on selling the documents. It is disgusting you are defending him. You republicans are not serious people. |
He HAD the power, and didn't, yet kept the documents, hid the documents, copied the documents and lied about the documents. He even asked his attorneys to deal with the documents so his hands would be cleaner. |
+1 ALL of the actions described in the indictment occurred AFTER the request for the documents in 2021. If he had just returned them when requested, nothing in this 27 count indictment would exist. |
Just Google it, it isn’t a mystery. Paula Broadwell was a military intelligence officer who was having an affair with David Petraeus while she was writing a book about him. He shared classified documents with her for the book. They got busted and negotiated plea bargains, but it ended their careers and their ability to get rich and famous off the ex-military gravy train of consulting and punditry. |
+1. And let’s not forget that both it was Biden and Pence who searched their own premise, found documents and immediately alerted the government that they had them and turned them back. In the case or Trump, it was the Archives that started looking for rhe docs apparently and tried to get them back for over a year. Trump made all possible attempts at keeping them: did not cooperate, had his attorney state there were no more documents, moved the docs around to avoid the searches. He really wanted to keep them so it would be interesting to find out why. |
Ken White raised that idea on this week's Serious Trouble - he thinks that it's possible |
And kept them in boxes in a bathroom! With a sh***y shower curtain! |
The judge may just be that much of a corrupt diehard, but she must realize that this trial will be an American history event that will be discussed for the next 200 years (assuming the world doesn't implode). She will unnecessarily tie herself to that by doing so. The smart thing for her to do is get out of this altogether. |
Still not rational. |
