Whittle

There is a big difference with kids that apply during regular decision time and those that “transfer” after admissions decisions. I know of former Whittle kids that are attending Maret, Sidwell, STA, and GDS in the fall. Also know 1-2 that are going IB to Wilson/Jackson Reed.

Good for those kids who will be transferring to those great private schools! I hope it was done fair and square. As for those couple of students going IB, I am sure they are seniors who are trying to finish the IB Diploma Programme.

Yes the people who keep starting to bash maret and bisgaard are not even whittle families and fail to remember that no one had applied this year and if they did they are not going/did not get in.

What are you talking about?!! People cited at least 3 different transfers and more to come

'People cited' on this board, meaning one person made up a story to whip up imaginations. There were no 'transfers' and won't be any this summer.

Correct. Whoever started this rumor has started a huge lie.

I guess you will be greeted with a surprising welcoming come September

Where? At Maret? Elaborate.

Why is everyone so surprised that kids were able to secure a spot at another school? Parents read the tea leaves last fall/winter and applied out. I expect that there are lots of whittle kids going to all the different privates, not just Maret. I feel badly for the families that didn’t jump the sinking ship and are now wondering what they’re going to do…but it seemed pretty clear what was going to happen some time ago now. Applying out wasn’t a nefarious action…and I don’t know why Maret is being targeted for accepting good, smart kids.

Because there were no admissions standards at Whittle and there was very little to no learning going on.

There are many top students from top publics and/or top K-8 schools (outlying fantastic students at known entities with known/consistent instruction standards) who were waitlisted at Maret.

I know some kids that went there for high school that are very smart and self starters who would have been able to compensate even without teachers to do well on self learning and exams. Just remember, you can't pain everyone with the same brush.

I’m sure there are self-starter kids…it’s just crazy to pay for a kid to have to teach themselves

Anything remotely interesting gets reported and deleted but those are the bits the 30k seeing this will remember. I feel like the Whittlegate has struck a real nerve

Uh, I think it’s hard to base anything off of a public school transcript after COVID. Not much learning going on and grade inflation was/is out of control. I think that’s where the little to no learning was happening. How do you know that kids at whittle didn’t learn anything? Your DC go there?probably and hopefully not, but please, let’s not pretend public school has been a bastion of academia the past couple of years.

Good DCPS schools were miles ahead of WSS. Cut the nonsense.

At least we know who’s got the questionable business judgment and strategic skills. One more wealth advisor, developer, education consultant and so-called health entrepreneur to avoid based on their demonstrated sound judgment

Are you mocking the students? Maybe leave them out of this. Besides learn how to spell strategy, instead of typing “strategery.”

The only DCPS school I acknowledge is School Without Walls. Otherwise, I understand why the DC parents with money send their children to private schools. Just because one school is better than another doesn’t mean everyone in the former is better than the latter.

There are enough eyes on Whittle now, right here in DC. He will need a good lawyer (not just a civil litigator or BK lawyer, but someone who knows how to talk to prosecutors).

I'm PP who knows the kids that can compensate and Totally agree you! My main point was supporting the earlier person who said it shouldn't be a surprise that kids would be accepted at Maret or other top schools. And to refute the replying PP who said there were no admissions standards. Even if that was the case, I know some VERY competent kids who would do well at the top schools in the area (broadly speaking along the lines of SFS, GDS, NCS STA, Potomac, Maret, Holton.....)

To be clear - the students I speak of are not part of that committee and did not graduate last year.
