s/o no starbucks cards or notes!!!

Dear parents,

some of us do not drunk coffee and a note is nice but its not a gift. Teachers are underpaid. A nice, general store card is what's most appreciated..target, amazon, etc. These can be used everywhere!!?

Dear under-paid teachers, I cannot tell if you love coffee or not. Sorry, I got you a $20 SB gift cert. However, after reading these threads, I don't think I want to buy anything for teachers anymore

Do you work for DCPS? Isn't the starting salary straight out of undergrad over $50K? And you still think you are underpaid? Even if you are a first year teacher?

Please try to act professional and quit this sort of complaining. Can you imagine your dentist or accountant complaining like this?

How about nothing?
How about it's the thought that counts?

Psst - I don't think that Op is a teacher. Op just wants to see an end to the teacher gifts.

Teachers depending on where you work are not underpaid. That is what your profession pays and if you do not like it find a higher paying profession. I hate Starbucks too but a gift is a gift and appreciate it.

I agree. I am a teacher and I love Starbucks cards, cute notes - I love anything. Who doesn't love being showered with goodwill? We also try to make the week before break fun and special for the children so they sail out the door on a positive note. Its Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone!!!! (Ps.and Hannukah and anything else dear to your heart) xoxoox

Same here. When my DS started naming all the teachers I realized we have a total of 17 gifts to give PLUS the contribution to the extended day cash gift.
We are happy to give and hope that everyone enjoys their gift cards and other items.

Coal next year for you, op, if indeed you really are a teacher.

The whining on these boards is out of control! How about no tips? I certainly don't get a tip for doing my job or a bonus (tips come from others, bonus comes from work).

I'm not OP and not a teacher and I'm ready to stop doing teacher gifts. Every year these same threads start up, so I'm sure it's not just one person. This gift giving puts poor families at a disadvantage and not everyone is a celebrator of Christmas anyway, so no reason to keep this up particularly since it doesn't even seem to be appreciated.
