Early Decision/Action for any OTHER school besides Sidwell?

Since the other thread on this seems to be taken up by some Sidwell parents anonymously talking/bragging to one another, can anyone else report how your child's school did? I've got a DD in 8th grade and she applied to several DC privates (NOT Sidwell though) and I am interested to see how the college acceptances are coming. Thanks!

Sharing incomplete and unverified information, in a way that just adds to the over-emphasis on a few schools and makes those NOT admitted early feel worse, is not a great idea. Good for the other schools' parents for not getting into it.

I disagree. What is wrong with being proud - or sad, mad, whatever - at where your child got in. Or saying you feel the school misled you about its track record. There is plenty of bragging on this site for no reason (my kid tested like Einstein at age 3, my kid is gifted, etc) designed to make other parents feel bad that there kid didn't get into a Bog 3, etc. You have posted this same line on a few threads now, so obviously the problem is not with the parents who want to discuss things anonymously while still naming the school, big deal. If your kid didn't get in somewhere early (and everyone knows the Ivies are a crap shoot on the best day) then reading that other kids in maybe a different school got in isn't going to make you feel any worse. No one started a thread on only a few schools. Sounds like one high school had a few big groups get in early to a few schools, which would naturally make those schools a focus of discussion.

In other words, obviously this must touch a nerve with you personally.

Somebody's been trolling using GDS's name for months (not sure they aren't actually trying to make GDS look bad). They will no doubt keep going as long as people believe they are serious posts and say things like "put up or shut up." I actually sort of admire their persistence and willingness to stay on their Trolly message.

Ah, playing the self-righteous card, as well as the old "if you disagree it's because your child came out on the losing end." Mmm, sorry, but your crystal ball has a leaky transmission. I think it's bragging, and that people who pay lip service to the idea that it's not just about getting into an Ivy league are hypocritical for these sorts of posts.

High school teacher here. If you could see how sad the kids are who got deferred or rejected, people might not treat it as such fun gossip. The kids who have not gotten in feel like damaged goods. They will all end up somewhere great, but having everybody keep score of Ivy admissions does feel like salt in their wounds at this point.

Do I think a lot of kids read this forum? No. But they do pick up on the general air of competition among some parents over college admissions.

I am very curious about Early Decision/Early Action results, and I know there are others here at our school and in the larger D.C. area that also want to know how our kids did this year! If your child applied to a very prestigious college (Ivies, Stanford, MIT -- you know the drill) either Early Action or Early Decision, please respond by replying (no "reply all" please! Don't want to make too much email traffic) as to the college and the result: accept, defer, reject. I and others are also very curious about the reasoning, so if your child was accepted to a prestigious school, please let us know if s/he is a legacy, recruited athlete, an under-represented minority, or if you or your spouse are a celebrity or a billionaire. Once I have the information, I will compile it and post it on an internet forum. Don't worry, I won't use your kids' names!!!! Because I'm so certain of the validity and good sense of sharing information this way, I am cc'ing this email to the Head of School as well!

I think I like the post that says happy holidays even more after reading this. Sorry, but most of the parents that spend time on this site actually seem to pay attention to school track records for a lot of things. There wouldn't be a huge thread about the "Big 3" etc otherwise
