THIS. THIS. THIS. After mass shootings of children and other citizens going about their daily lives we've been told by the gun rights advocates that it's the "price of freedom." We have an absolutely fetishistic gun culture in this country and if you shoot the right person you can get off scot free. I am sorry Brian Thompson was killed. I am sorry for his family. I believe a crime was committed and it was wrong. But the shocked articles and hand-wringing and lecturing are over the top. We've spent over 25 years telling school kids that gun violence is just something that happens in America/it's not a big deal, what did we expect? |
Give it up, health insurance shill. Nobody buys the nonsense you are selling. |
What, precisely, is wrong about what PP wrote? Please be specific. |
DP. They are right. And I have no ties to the insurance business but I do work in healthcare and can say what the PP is saying is true |
The idea that insurance companies have clean hands here is outright laughable. My God. |
This also happened yesterday live on TV, you can look up the actual video: “Piers Morgan stunned when pundit Briahna Joy Gray says she has no empathy for slain health care CEO: 'I find this staggering.’” |
DP, but as I said like 20 pages ago, none of these things are okay, and all of these things— including for-profit insurance corporations like UHC — are connected by the same underlying problem, which is that as a nation we’ve turned health care into a commodity whose shares are bought and sold and whose primary purpose (legally defined in most cases) is growth of investor portfolios. Yes, other aspects of the health system also happen to be problematic. And so is UHC’s entire business model. It’s not either/or. |
The only people surprised by the reaction are wealthy people who are very insulated. So, yes, it makes sense Morgan was staggered. Now, Gray is a grifter so she’s just trying to get publicity but there is a genuine lack of concern here across the board that only the wealthy are shocked by. |
Schizophrenia is awful and dangerous. If that is what he’s going through, I would like to see him get the help he needs and get out of prison in a couple of decades, after serving some time. |
DP. This outcome would be palatable to me. |
Wow the depth of your rebuttal is breathtaking. Guess that’s what you do when you have no rebuttal. |
+1 |
Every lockdown drill these kids are reminded that someone can come into their space and kill them and their peers at any moment and there isn’t much they can do about it. Think about the sheer amount of mass shooting tragedies that we have had in the past 25 years. I don’t even get surprised by them anymore, just disappointed. |
Lawyers that wealthy do it for fame. But the family has the medical records so could have too. Who cares. He’s in prison forever and will be on drugs forever too so he doesn’t flip out on himself or others again. |
Won’t get out of prison. Will have a “nicer” prison if truly hearing voices and nuts. |
