Lies.

90 percent uncertainty level on your chart. Nice try.

OK. Provide a better source. One that shows abortions are "at an all-time high".

See how that works.

More women will be maimed or killed if Trump is elected. More unwanted children will be born to lives of misery if Trump is elected.

But you only care about fetuses because you can use them to control women. You don’t care about life and never did and now everyone else knows it.

Yup. Just look at how they treat living, breathing women around them like trash.

I have two children. I didn’t want to kill them when I was pregnant. So, your statement of “you don’t care about life and never did….” Is wrong.

There are a million scenarios where terminating the pregnancy is the best outcome. Your views and experiences are only representative of you, no one else. You don't get to force your views and decide medical care for other women.

A million scenarios? Really?

Yes, every situation is different.

I am 100000000% pro choice and hate Trump.

But- this is something that bothers me when people who keep saying if Trump gets elected the world will end for women.

First of all, the sinister strategy of GOP was to convert this into a states rights issue. Do you all get that it's not the federal level that's making abortion illegal? SCOTUS is giving back powers to states to decide for themselves and GOP States are those making abortion illegal. Biden cannot change this on his own. And actually Trump has said he isn't actually as nuts as some of his right wing friends. He is an egomaniac moron but I don't think he actually cares about this issue as a practical issue goes - it's a right wing evangelical bible thumping conservative platform.

Secondly, it's a SCOTUS thing. I get if a GOP admin comes in there will be SCOTUS appt that will not bode well for pro choice but you have to look at the health of all on the Court. Is 2024-28 going to see a Justice on the way out or can we wait until 2028 when we may lose 1 or more to retirement or health? That may be a more critical time to elect a progressive?

Lastly, where it's important to drive the vote for a Dem is at the state level. GOP had a pretty successful strategy of making sure they had the power at state level to legislatively push their agenda through. My prob with Dems is they get really passionate and want to do these big things passionately. All good except GOP manages things with a bit more detail and they are winning on this issue because they put a lot of thought into how to turn the tide in their favor. It's not about getting mad and passionate - it's about using brains to come up with a way of keeping choice for all. I wish Dems would be a bit smarter and look at the details.

I'm not suggesting electing Trump is helping the cause of Choice but I'm just saying screaming about how Trump is gonna do more damage isn't completely accurate.

You better read up on Project 2025.

Trump can absolutely do damage via the Comstock Act.

Really? No offense but you sound like one of the people who said they’d never overturn Roe. I get it. The human brain goes out of its way to try and explain things, normalize events. But Roe did get thrown in the bin. The GOP is signaling they’re going to go after abortion nationally - re read what they’ve said about abortion and states rights because it’s not what you’re wanting to hope.

And they’ve signaled they’re going after birth control next.

As the other op said: have you read about Project 2025 and Agenda 47? Don’t boil yourself to death as the water gently warms.

Legislators in Baton Rouge added the provision as a last-minute amendment to a Senate bill that would criminalize an abortion if someone gives a pregnant woman the pills without her consent, a scenario of “coerced criminal abortion” that nearly occurred with one senator’s sister.

A pregnant woman obtaining the two drugs “for her own consumption” would not be at risk of prosecution. But, with the exception of a health-care practitioner, a person helping her get the pills would be.

Louisiana already bans both medication and surgical abortions except to save a patient’s life or because a pregnancy is “medically futile.” Lawmakers just rejected adding exceptions for teenagers under 17 who become pregnant through rape or incest.

What makes them hate women (and girls) so much?

I write it on here a lot, but it applies, and it’s not hyperbole. Women aren’t people in the GOP. We’re made of clay and Adam’s rib. We are non entities. We are there to serve men and our children. We are not, under any circumstances, to have our own inner life or plans, especially not for our bodies.

This exactly. Women are seen as replaceable helpmates by most evangelicals. If one dies in childbirth, you can just find another who might even be better at serving you than the first.

We aren't whole people in their eyes, and I'm saying this as a non-evangelical, progressive Christian. These evangelicals and conservatives are not people you want deciding your daughters' fates.

I don’t understand how evangelical women can share these beliefs. I understand that they do, I just don’t understand why.

Imagine being told from birth that you are not a full person, that your worth lies not inherent to yourself but in your ability to serve others and to bear children.

Imagine your church, the heart of most of your experiences, driving home the point with selective (and cagily interpreted) Bible verses telling you that God thinks the same way, that women cannot know God like a man can, that you are a lesser being in all respects, that women are inherently slutty and only worthwhile so long as you don’t have intercourse outside marriage.

Imagine belonging to one of the churches that makes female victims of sexual assault apologize to the person who violated their body and soul, for “tempting” him.

Imagine literally every aspect of your life telling you you’re less. It gets internalized. I’m not saying that the culture that we all swim in is hunky dory, but it doesn’t totally erase us as people.

So that’s what a lot of conservative women are dealing with and how they approach multiple issues: that women are less and worthy of less.

Me again.

And right on time some right wing extremist gave a commencement address at a Catholic college. This is how he spoke to the female graduates (it’s a TikTok video on Reddit), telling them they shouldn’t be working but having babies and being in the home, that it’s a “diabolical lie” that they think they’re entitled to have a life outside the house: https://www.reddit.com/r/TikTokCringe/comments/1cs5zrr/we_all_know_women_just_want_to_be_homemakers/

If you are one of the women who thinks the GOP won’t go after women’s rights entirely, time to shake the sand out of your eyes and ears.

I felt so sorry for the young women sitting in that audience. Imagine attending four years of college to have this a sshat tell you it was all for nothing. Imagine being the parents that paid for four years of tuition!

And you’re correct, Dems did Drop the ball on state legislators, but in the last four years, they have really made great strides and regaining them. But it will take time for them to regain state governments. It’s not enough time if Trump were to win he’ll take a sledgehammer to the entire Federal and state governments.

You’re buying the constant, consistent lie that Dobbs left the abortion rights issue up to the states. It did not. It left it up to “the people and their representatives” which includes Congress.

Do you understand the uproar if this lunatic enforces the Comstock Act? Do you really think this country is going to be a smooth running machine bringing us back to the Leave it to Beaver days? The only time the elites change is when they are going to get their asses handed to them. Even right wing billionaires don't want to see their holdings decrease.

In more incredible news: recent poll shows 17% believe Biden is responsible for overturning Roe. I just don’t know how we get here where people don’t understand how the government works.
