Currently have a 2005 Honda Pilot that I would like to get rid of and purchase a new SUV. Considering the Acura MDX, Mercedes ML-350, Audi Q7, Infiniti QX60, BMW X5, and Lexus GX460.
Any experience with any of these models? Currently leaning toward the Acura MDX but really liked the X5. |
| range rover or g550, all the cars that you listed are for poor ppl |

I love my X5 with the 3rd row seat but we hardly use the 3rd row because its very very tiny. I knew we wouldn't need it often so that was fine for us.
If you have more than 2 kids I would get the Lexus GX or Infiniti QX (although friends haven't been very happy with it). The Mercedes GL seems to be the best choice if you need a larger luxury car. The others you list have small 3rd rows. I didn't like the MDX when I drove it - seems cheap. The Q7 seems a little outdated for the price. The ML doesn't have a 3rd row. |
| I'd go with MDX. |
Hey OP - I asked the same question about a month ago and got a lot of great advise from DCUM. I ended up purchasing a 1 yr old Mercedes GLK. I love it! I don't need a 3rd row so the vehicle was a perfect choice. It drives like a car - it doesn't feel like you're driving a tank, and its very smooth and comfortable. Gas mileage is pretty good too. My final price was $31K. DH has a 10 yr old Lexus SUV and it has been very good to us. No issues with the vehicle, just the regular maintenance - new tires and oil changes. You also can't go wrong with Acura. I would stay away from Audi - pretty vehicle but very $$$ and from what I understand they are temperamental, BMWs are also very expensive for what you get. I compared the BMW X5 to the Mercedes GLK and the Mercedes had a better "feel", more comfortable and more luxurious for less $$. Infiniti - I think they are probably reliable but very $$. |
| Check out the Ford explorer. You'll love it and can buy a family trip to Europe with the balance saved. |
| A fully optioned out Ford Explorer is about the same price as the MDX. |
11:36 here. I also looked at the Ford Explorer - very nice vehicle. The reason I didn't go that route is: it felt "big" when you were inside and, although I know that American vehicles have come a long way, resale will not be as good as it would be with a foreign vehicle. |
| Our MDX is ten years old and I still love it. Very versatile, reliable, comfortable car. Perfect for a family. |
| Do you have kids? Get the MDX. That third seat comes in handy. Other times, it flips down for additional trunk space. |
| Definitely MDX. |
| Love my Q7. Very spacious, yet easy to drive. Nothing beats its panoramic sunroof. |
I have a fully loaded 2013 with about 10k miles on it. I can't stand it. Do you want it??? I need the 3rd row and the legroom for all the kids is terrible. DH is 6'3. I suspect the kids will be tall. This car was supposed to last 7-10 yrs but the kids are going to outgrow the back seats before then. |
| Infiniti has the best tech including auto breaking, sonar and 6 camera surround view which helps with parking |
Love it |
