You are probably right. CLC does their homework and has a pretty good idea of who are the strong players before any tryouts. You are probably correct in that 2-4 girls who make CLC B are identified during the tryouts. Assuming that 90% of CLC B are pretty much set, you have roughly 120 girls trying out for 2-3 slots on Blue and 22 for Orange.

So those pre tryout clinics were actually valuable in having your daughter evaluated prior to actual tryouts? If a coach took interest in your daughter there, does it mean anything?

Absolutely!!! There was a reason everyone said go to them.

Some absolute head-scratchers on non-selections.

All things being equal, those who paid Healthy Baller a ton of money for training and paid money to attend the clinics definitely had a leg up on those who did not.

Not sure that’s true with what I’m hearing. I get that this story has been part of the core mythology of this board. Certainly seems to have been relevant to attend some of the clinics and get exposure to multiple coaches and evaluators, but I don’t believe a crazy HB commitment was an essential element.

It’s what everyone has been telling you 28 parents - your perception of who is good and what you need to do is not always right. You all are not infallible.

GJ wants you to go to HB but she is taking who she thinks are the best players. HB isn’t why she took some kids, it’s just Cap’s assessment.

By the way, they’re not perfect and they’ll try and fix their mistakes next year.

My kid is on a Capital Blue team, does not go to Saints and has never attended a Healthy Baller training session. She also is not the top player on her team.

So, it can be done!

There are always head scratchers every year.
(when it's your kid that didn't have a great tryout. And didn't make the team.)

Could be slow server, spam filter, or sometimes they go out in a particular order. Don't read much into it yet. We've seen them trickle over a few hours in the past with the full range of news (yes, blue, orange, no, waitlist, etc).

My daughter made blue and there are multiple head scratchers so no sour grapes here. As folks have been stating, it happens every year. Seems like they put an emphasis on athleticism. Makes sense.
