Do as you please with your time and money, but an event that has 2029s 2030/31s is mostly a money grab. It’s all good to have your kid post on their Instagram page that they’re attending (as are 300 other kids), but honestly having your child fatigued by mid summer is a real issue. One thing we heard time and time again during the recruiting process was that coaches would rather see quality of play versus quantity. Playing hard at 3-4 events and hustle the same 4th quarter as you do 1st quarter will take you much farther than attending 10 events and looking like you’re playing half-ass because you’re so drained. As a PP who has gone through the process with two kids, I can tell you being on the rd in scorching temps for 8 weeks straight is not for the weary. Choose your events wisely. If your kid is telling you their body is staring to hurt, listen.

My kid was offered a spot years ago and passed for these exact reasons. Skipping had no influence on recruiting and my kid is at a top school.

And why do you think it’s so sought-after? Has your child attended? Do you know how it’s run? How the kids are evaluated? You probably know about it because of social media and the best kids (who are already being seen) attend. It’s no longer as “exclusive” as it once was. Parents play into the social media highlight posts just as desperately as the kids do. Both my children attended 2 years and I can tell you, the kids are not being seen by all the coaches, sometimes no coaches at all. The coaches who attend are going to this event see a group of kids that are already in their watch list. Your kid might be lucky enough to be playing on the same team as or against one of those kids, but there is no way a coach can get a fair evaluation on that many kids in such a short amount of time. The amount of time your kid actually sees the field to make good plays is minimal. This event is not going to determine your kid’s recruiting success. Be glad your daughter is sitting this one out and you’re saving yourself $600 or whatever it is now. Side note *it helps if you’re a First Class athlete and attend Deemers training, just FYI*

My child hasn’t attended, and I don’t need to know how it’s run or how players are evaluated to recognize it as the most prestigious and sought-after event of the summer. If you can name a more prestigious, more in-demand event this summer, I’ll Venmo you $10.

No matter how many times you use prestigious to try and sell people who want prestigious that this event is prestigious doesn’t mean the event is prestigious.

Committed games. Gotta try out and get to play with a school’s commits to fill out teams. Coaches can see what you can do with and against their players.

Nope; those were the Cap Blue 2028 numbers for the past three years as this is a 2028 thread. And they are relatively low for a top team. Capital leadership has explicitly told players and families that it does not advocate for showcase invitations for Capital players--by policy--and has generally suggested that it is unnecessary to attend. They do not have a mechanism for prioritizing. Somehow, M&D, Hero's, YJ, Monsters, NXT, Prime Time, and many others, figure this out while managing culture implications--even for coaches' daughters. Capital girls that make BIC have managed to catch Deemer's eye through play at tournaments, American Select, or by video, or they have had non-Capital advocates.

First word should have been Yes. Next sentence should have said that the 2025 Cap Blue team wasn't really engaged with BIC as it was new at the time. Some members attended UA 150 which was the hotter showcase in summer 2023.
