If they had voted for the release of the files, they would be subjected to Trump's swift and fierce revenge--personal attacks on social media followed by threats to primary them. GOP senators and representatives live under Trump's reign of terror and there's not much they can do to fight back unless they all act together. But that's never going to happen.

I think Epstein probably used the word enigma for girls or perhaps girls he hadn’t yet abused so it was a knowing reference to exploiting young girls just not an anagram for gamine.

When the president of the US acts like a mafia boss who exacts retribution on all who cross him, we do not have a functioning democracy. We can longer expect GOP legislators to "do the right thing." They literally live in fear of Trump and not just because he will primary them, but also because his SM criticism of them may lead to death threats or acts of violence against them or their families.
