I don't own a hat. Don't have a player in either league so I can be honest without bias. Getting back to my question. Why these rumors about bankruptcy? Is there something I'm not understanding? More teams = more revenue, does it not? Adding more low level "showcases" divisions shouldn't cost much more. |
Stop trying to apply logic. Some people just say negative things and dont care if its untrue. That's the downside of an anonymous forum. |
The reality is while some think these leagues are watering themselves down, the mid-tier clubs see this as their chance to grow and maybe become elite, along with a cadre of players who aren't thought much of. Sure, some will become new cannon fodder BUT some may reach new heights and good for them! |
GA does need to do something creative with scheduling because the overlap is likely hurting them. Not sure if they do it so coaches will end up travelling all around the same time or what it is but what you end up with are coaches that may attend the GA event for maybe a day or two and spend the rest of their time at the ECNL event. |
What happened to the GA SY announcement coming this week? |
agree. you can't have showcase during the fall for U15 and above because colleges are in the middle of their season. they can't start until Dec after thanksgiving which is when all but 4 colleges are still playing. so the best time is the first or second week in dec. but the second week gets closer to the Christmas break and kids finals before break. so really the first weekend in Dec is the best. quit the issue this year if GA keeps the me dates. GA - in Norco, CA ECNL - in Kansas City, MO CASL/Visit Raleigh - Raleigh, NC pretty spead out tournaments |
With ECNL's Showcase in NC coming up, I'm assuming all the teams/clubs that play in fall don't play? Not all ECNL teams play year long - a lot of the conferences are finished and stop start back up until fall due to high school. Am i wrong on this? |
Most MA states play ecnl in fall and hs in spring and will attend ecnl NC. Not ideal but also good showcase that is easy travel. |
And good practice for those ECNL teams heading to Playoffs. |
Definetely wrong. Most of the NC ECNL teams are playing this weekend despite season being over in December. HS season is done except for state championship games, so majority of players are available. |
It’s interesting to see these teams show up somewhat rusty and out of practice, as a team, after the high school gap. |
So they are rusty. Its a showcase - there no awards, trophies, or places. Just another opportunity to put 18 kids in front of college coaches for a weekend. Why wouldn't you take that opportunity? |
I think the point being made is, they do take the opportunity |
Yep, absolutely. DD's team is going that is on fall ECNL, Spring HS schedule. They have a training tonight to get everyone together and then their games this weekend. It's a good warmup for prepping for national playoffs plus they will play some good teams as well. And last chance to play in front of the colleges before June 15. They will start training again for playoffs after this weekend. |
