Bowser Endorsed by Barry - Need I Say More?

Anonymous
The Post in today's editorial says don't worry that she doesn't know anything, she'll hire people who do. What am I missing here???!!. So how are schools going to get better when the so called captain doesn't know how to navigate and set the course?

We're going back to the roaring '80's and '90's with cronyism, dysfunction and eventually a control board. And anyone who wanted better schools EoTP ought to just move NOW!

In Ward 3, we think of Barry as a funny old uncle and Carol as an charity-case aunt. Neither one is objectionable and voting for either one of them is fine as long as you have some money left and don't have kids. In fact, it's a laugh to talk to friends in other places and commiserate about how messed up Wasington is (with Barry as an example). There is remarkable sameness about Bowser that's comforting.

This post is in the wrong location. It is also rediculous. Jeff, I know you are partisan but do you mind moving?

The poster mentioned schools.

This doesn't matter unless one has children and needs some degree of access to the public schools.

The subject line seems disconnected from the message, but the message is about schools. Just be patient for a couple days more.

Yeah, but this is part of the problem in DC, that a lot of the people with education are also very liberal and very affluent, and fundamentally not at the mercy of the DC govt, because they can go private for school or don't even have kids. So they (you) can afford to treat it as like an amusing joke, like, look at what the little people are doing today, isn't that quirky.

There are various posters in the threads here who weigh in on the issue at hand (could be FARMs, Hardy IB percentage, middle school feeder pattern changes), but also make it clear that they can afford private, or make other references to their affluence. My take-away from this is that the issue at hand is pretty low stakes for them. They can afford to stake out a principled, liberal, philosophical position, talk up a good game, be indignant about the racism and classism of others. And then go private if it suits them better. If everyone in DC were forced to use public schools they would be some of the best schools in the nation within a few years. It's like that hypothetical, if you want to cure disease X, infect all of the world's billionaires with disease X, apologies for the crass analogy.

Obama also endorsed Bowser, so, yeah, I guess you could say more if you want to make a good point.

Many of us like the characteristic quirkiness of DC's way of governing (Southern Efficiency and all that). It's a bit like New Orleans and that's OK. Many in Ward 3 will vote for Murlel; we are not looking for a great deal of change around here. I am sorry but we take care of our own.

I can tell you don't actually live in ward 3 and that you're just posing anonymously on the internet.

PP, who is "our own" in this context?
