Ted's Bulletin (Merrifield) is NOT kid-friendly

I don't get why everyone says Teds Bulletin is so family-friendly. We went this morning - 2 famlies that each have a 3 year old. I called at 9:30 and they estimated a 45 minute wait. We got there at 9:45 and checked in - they told us 10 minutes. We waited and waited. Fortunately plenty of stuff to entertain the kids at Mosaic. At about 10:10 they told us it would be 20-30 minutes. Around 10:45 I said something to the host about the fact that they need to get better at estimating. They told me it was just an estimate and they don't have a lot of big tables that fit 6. Fine, I get that, but if they had told me over the phone "we have no idea, it could be 45 minutes or it could be an hour and a half" we probably would have gone somewhere else. Similarly, if they had told us when we got there it might be an hour, we would have gone somewhere else. We should have left when they extended the time at 10:10 - up to that point we were still within the original "window". Anyhow, we were about to leave when we were seated at 10:50. The service once we were seated was slow and not good (after we were seated I asked for a kid's menu - which she should have brought in the first place - and she brought one kids menu and one set of crayons... for two 3 year olds...). The food was fine, we did love the poptart, but just not worth it. I understand it's popular and new and they're working out the bugs... but with so many restaurants they should have it together right off the bat.

I just saw nothing family friendly. It was even in Red Triangle recently as a kid-friendly option. An indeterminate wait and terribly inaccurate estimates with small kids is a no-go. And having a bowl of candy at kid-level, so DS can either grab it or repeatedly ask for a piece every time we went to check on status, was decidely non-parent-friendly.

I hope they had some cheese to go with your whine.

Um, a long wait has nothing to do with whether or not you have kids! Not kid friendly means they had NO accomodations for kids ie: no kid type foods, no crayons, etc.

Sorry you were not able to get all that unhealthy fatty food to your gi-normous ass sooner.

Ok, so because you have kids you expect no wait and I stand service? Why on earth would you go knowing it could be an hour wait? Sounds like a parenting failure.

I agree. OP, you're an idiot.

Who takes their kids out at 10pm

If you want to sit down immediately, then go to McDonald's.

I don't really think OP has a leg to stand on but at least get it right - it was 10 am.

I hope I don't turn into this kind of parent. Demanding and expecting kid friendly aka kiss my ass.

I don't care how many crayons they provided, underestimating a wait by 30+ minutes is not family friendly and not a good way to do business. My point (OP here) was if they'd given me an accurate estimate either when I called or when I arrived, I absolutely would have gone somewhere else.

What do people find so family friendly about that place?

But it's an ESTIMATE. If 1/2 the people choose to longer at brunch a bit longer, it'll add 30 minutes. Sounds like you're a reservations kind of lady.
