She wants to go out somewhere for dinner tonight. The problem is my wife wants me to hang out with her and the kids this evening as we haven't had a family night in a a while. How do I reconcile these competing agendas?

Reschedule with your wife. Tell her that you are not available tonight because it's your GF's birthday. I'm sure she'll solve the problem of 2 competing obligations on one night for you, leaving only one.

Invite your girlfriend over for a family dinner. It'll get her out of the house and let you have some family time too.

Take them all to dinner- either seated at the same table so you can introduce them to each other. You can keep it light, or get down deep into discussion everyone's STD history, so they know what they've gotten themself into.

The other option is to have them seated at different tables, you can run back and forth between the two. Be sure to change outfits in the bathroom so they don't recognize you (ala Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire).

No. That was the point of dating a woman my age. She wouldn't want a lot of attention like a younger fresh out of college DC gal.
