Nothing quite says "I love diversity" like moving into the Langley district, the least diverse in NoVa, and then touting an endorsement from a local group (Voices of Fairfax) started by a bunch of Great Falls residents who call Herndon a "gang-ridden * * * sanctuary city" and show up at School Board work sessions screaming that FCPS "lets all the illegals in." She may be better than the people she surrounds herself with, but sheesh... I don't see anything about immigration on that website, is it stuff people have posted here that you think are part of that group or where? |

Click on the pledge. Tholen signed the pledge to protest cooperation with ICE. She who lives in a house that is almost 5,000 square feet and that is worth more than 1.3 million dollars. I'm sure she is a very nice person, but she lives in an ivory tower--although I am sure it is environmentally sound. |

Here is the link to Tholen's pledge. |
Work, yes? Side hobbies or teen awards that may have been bestowed based on the connections of one's parents? Not so compelling. And, while McLean and Marshall have considerably more diversity than Langley, better to be a hypocrite (if that's your beef with Strauss) than a mean-spirited bully like the OGF/VOF crowd. |
I did not know she had signed that pledge. Good for her. I don't think county officials should be deputized agents of the Trump Administration. |
| You need to read the pledge. I do not think school board members should disinvite ICE either. God help us |
ICE is going to do what ICE is going to do. It doesn’t mean a local school system has to be their agents. |
They are not asking for cooperation from the School Board to "be their agents." They are asking for cooperation from law enforcement. Tholen does not want law enforcement to assist. Big difference. |
You may not understand the concept of agency. In any event, it's a matter of semantics. It undermines the role of public schools in educating students for school officials to act or be perceived as acting on behalf of or "in cooperation with" ICE. I'm sure being pro-ICE enhances Anastasia's (and Michael's) standing with some of their Republican pals, but Elaine took the correct stance. |
No one is asking SB members to be agents for ICE. Her pledge was related to law enforcement. She did not have to sign it. It has nothing to do with the schools. It just shows where her interests are. |
It has everything to do with the schools. Her interests lie with making schools places of learning, not auxiliaries to Trump's detention camps. |
You really do not understand this issue, do you? This has absolutely nothing to do with the schools. Nothing. She does not wish for law enforcement to cooperate with ICE. Nothing to do with schools at all. |
Nonsense. |
|
Just reading Michael Karloutsos's Twitter page with the constant praise of repressive government policies tells me why Anastasia and her friends think being pro-ICE should be a requirement for a local School Board member.
Yuck. |
Actually, I should clarify. Michael protests repressive government policies in Turkey, but that’s about it. |
