The GOP. Stupid or hypocritical?

Kavanaugh has no business being on the court. Trump is under investigation for treason. He has no business selecting justices for anything.

Stop whining ........ the Democrats lost the election. Remember what Obama said: "elections have consequences".

Get used to it ...........

It’s not whining to note that he is wholly unfit for the bench. Who bought him off. Why. To whom is he beholden.

And Trump is under investigation for treason. Every single judge he has appointed should be recalled.

More mindless blather ....... Kavanaugh will be confirmed more than likely with the support of at least a couple of Democrats.

The way Democrats get to nominate and confirm justices and judges is by winning elections - something Democrats have not succeeded in doing since 2008.

Vote suppression. Illegally removing voters from the rolls. Gerrymandering. TREASON.

Even with you cheatballs cheating, we win more votes. Be honest - without all your cheating, you wouldn’t win dogcatcher. No one wants your policies. Or your filthy and corrupt GOPers.

Wondering what all the pro-life folks think about his opinion in Doe v Tarlow. Government agency forcing abortions on intellectually disabled women? Kavanaugh said that was ok

It's amazing how any conservative would have the balls to accuse a person of being triggered as if they aren't aware of the day-to-day life of their fuhrer.

He's a standard-issue conservative pick. Under normal circumstances, I would agree that the minority should just step aside and let the nomination go through.

These are not normal circumstances, though - the Republican Party destroyed any hope for normality in Supreme Court confirmations with Merrick Garland.

Yes, #resist we must.
What exactly do you think the Dems should do? What actions can they take to prevent his appointment?

You make it sound like performing an abortion was the issue - it wasn’t.
At question was whether it was constitutional for DC to distinguish two categories of persons to determine competency in making medical decisions for themselves. The Court of Appeals held that the District of Columbia's 2003 statute was constitutional and the law may distinguish two categories of persons who lack competency. "For patients who once had mental capacity, the decision must be based on the 'known wishes of the patient' if those wishes can be 'ascertained' . . . For those who have never had the mental capacity, the decision must be based on 'a good faith belief as to the best interests of the patient.'"

Not much, sadly. To the extent they can hold the line to delay a vote and hopefully take back the Senate in November, that's about their only real option besides trying to swing a couple of GOP votes. The Dems' failure over the last generation or so to take the long view re: court appointments will go down as probably the greatest strategic failure in American political history.

Democrats can do NOTHING to prevent Kavanaugh's confirmation absent some real surprise which is unlikely especially given that he went through the confirmation process not so long ago.

What Democrats can do longer term when it comes to future confirmations is to actually win elections and to do that they need to focus on the entire country - not just what will sell in CA and NY.

No party can lose elections at just about every level and then expect to call the shots when it comes to judicial appointments.

WTF is with your failure to grasp this: Democrats win more votes. Gerrymandering literally means we win more votes but have less representation. You can look it up. In many places, the GOP - in seats they didn’t really mathematically earn - take a precision scalpel and remove Democratic voters from the rolls. They make rules so that IDs highly likely to be held by GOPricks count - NRA cards, for example - count as ID, but other ones that are far more likely to be heeled by Democratic voters - like college IDs - don’t. They pass voter ID laws and then in poor neighborhoods and communities only close the offices where they could get these IDs. And let us not forget what the GOP did with Russia.

Stop telling Democrats to “actually win elections.” Start telling the GOP to quit cheating.

And release Kavanaugh’s documents. What are they hiding?
