Pray for Charlotte, NC

At the end of the day these cops out here are way too preoccupied with pulling triggers than preserving lives, way more inclined to instigate conflicts than deescalate them and that comes down to training.

Has it occurred to you that perhaps they were preserving their own lives? Did you hear the wife keep saying "Keith, don't do it"?

I often wonder what outside/aliens from other worlds would think about this anthropologically. If you gave them the stats, and the experiences as seen on video, what would they think? Would they see the race? Would they consolidate the races, and just point out that it's mostly 18-50 yo something men? Would they wonder how the escalation begins from the police point of view? How does it get so heated? Just the presence of a gun near a man, sometimes black, sometimes white? Sometimes the gun is being held. Sometimes not. Remove our emotions over this whole thing begat would they see? (Emotions are great and make us human. I'm not saying remove them, but I wonder what it would Be like to study this from a removed perspective.)

Screengrab from the new video.

If you think the thing on the grown by the black officer is a gun, I believe you are wrong. If you watch carefully, the black officer is dropping things while he is standing there. They are black and might be some sort of wrapper. He drops at least two. Moreover, that is not the location of the gun show in the earlier picture. Compare these two photos (one from the video that is similar to yours):

I think the object is between the foot of the cop in red. If you look closely, the pictures are taken from different angles. The victim has been moved (his feet are parallel to the curb in the top photo), due to cutting his pants away/CPR(?). If you compare the shadows and the white marks on the ground instead, it appears, to me, like the gun is still in the same spot.

That is possible, especially when combined with the video to which another poster linked that showed the office stepping back to an object in that spot.

The Charlotte mayor said on the news that while she appreciates the support, she would ask that presidential candidates come at a later date. We'all see if that's honored.

This makes me so sad. Yet the lives of police don't matter.

If the police seen someone reaching for a gun what would you like them to do? Wait until the suspect fires the first shot?

You all realize there are millions of interactions by police officers every single day. They put their life on the line to keep you safe. They encounter the worst humanity has to offer.

And you are going to judge them and call them racist murderers because they shoot a man pointing a gun at them? I just don't get it.

I feel like you are all falling for political brainwashing and it is taking the focus off of real actual issues that need to be dealt with to help the lives of impoverished people in America. Because there are people out there that want to keep poor people poor and keep racism alive.

Think about that.

She just now flipped. She'll keep herself at home. They don't want her down there. She was hoping it'd help make her look good on Monday. What damn fool she is.

I hear you. Why would anyone decent want to be a police officer these days? Just a sad state of affairs.

If a guy has a gun, should a cop make an effort to pretend that the guy's gun will not be used to shoot the cop?

He had a gun in a location whew kids bus comes and he was smoking pot. Of course police are concerned. He got out of car with gun. He should have dropped the gun. Also wife shouldn't let him go sit in a car and get stoned. Someone must have reported him. It's a side street. Too bad though they couldn't have just shot him in the leg to disable him. I certainly don't want anyone to die.

Why would someone like Keith Scott be able to own a gun in the first place?? He had a criminal past, including a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon when he shot someone - for which he was sentenced to prison. Aren't background checks required for a purchase of a gun? Don't tell me that ex-cons with a gun assault conviction gets to buy another one? Assuming the gun on the scene wasn't a plant (I'm adding in that possibility because some of you will jump in with it), I'm guessing the police will trace back how he got his hands on a gun at all.
