Why do you say he killed himself? It does seem like the drugs clearly played a role but doesn't seem like he wanted to die. If the rumors are true he was addicted to Percocet. Unfortunately, he didn't get the help he needed, or the hip surgery, to get off the meds.

It doesn't really matter if you think he wanted to die.

Anyone messing with drugs like that, knows they're risking their health. Or they're delusional.

If he had been taking those pills for awhile, and it sounds like he had, then he had built up a tolerance to them - he kept taking more of the pills to give him the same sedated affect.

Obviously if he had recently been rushed to the hospital with an overdose he should have known that he was playing with fire. But a sedated mind may not think all that clearly.

I for one am not going to remember him for this addiction. I didn't even know that he had an addiction until his death. I'm going to remember Prince for his lifetime of amazing music - that's the part of his life that he shared with all of us...we were lucky to have him.

I can just imagine him sitting around in his fancy outfits and high heels eating dunkaroos. It cracks me up. This is the kind of weird stuff I want to know about famous people.

I know - all that organic health food and Dunkaroos. I totally love him for that.

Loved Prince. Since I was a little kid. Before Purple Rain even. But all this coverage of his death is making me feel terrible. I think it's being overdone. I feel like it's being taken advantage of by media to sell/get clicks/get listeners/sell copies of PEOPLE. I want it to stop now.

Yes I know it's not about me/my feelings are irrelevant but still. Doesn't seem overwrought?

I haven't been paying attention to the sadness and media coverage on t.v. I have gone a couple of places where a band played 1999 or made some sort of tribute to Prince - that has been nice. And it's been fun hearing his songs.

He really touched a lot of people.

Tonight at 6:07PM it will be 7 hours and 13 days since prince died, which is also the opening line to his hit song Nothing Compares 2 U. Radio stations will simultaneously broadcast the song at 6:07pm this evening. Not sure which of our local stations are participating.

That is a great tribute.

No, google the lyrics for the Prince version. It is not 7 hours and 15 days... it is 13 days...

Nothing Compares 2 U
Prince
It's been seven hours and thirteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you've been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see who ever I choose
Eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant, oh yeah
But nothing, nothing can take away these blues
Nothing compares, nothing compares to you
Oh baby
It's been so lonely without you here
I'm like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop this lonely rain from falling
Tell me baby, where did I go wrong?
Oh baby
I can put my arms around every boy I see, oh yeah
But they only remind me of you
All my dames remind me of you too girl, oh yeah
I went to the doctor, guess what he told me
What'd he tell you?
Guess what he told me
I'm listening
He said, rosie
What?

why so much blah blah blah he was a drug addict who killed himself like any other junkie on the street

wasted talent-couldn't get himself clean and sadly like most drug addicts dead of the old "accidental" overdose

You're thinking of the version that sinead o'conner sang. In Prince's version he said 7 hours and 13 days.

This article was interesting.

I also read he liked beets. It's just tragic though that there was a Betty Ford clinic 4 miles from his house but instead of going there or having someone from there come to him, he had the CA rehab guy come to him too late. It makes you wonder if he could have been saved had he sought treatment earlier. It just seems illogical, like the article about him calling someone to call the limo driver to turn down the A/C. It's sad that he wanted help and possibly put it off for years.

No, he was not a drug addict like a junkie on the street. You have the right to your own opinion but if that's truly how you feel I don't understand why you are reading and responding to a 29 page thread on DCUM of people posting their love and affection of Prince and his music and his talent. I mean, it's your time to spend how you see fit but I just don't see the point. :shrugs" To each his own, I guess.
