Duggar son allegedly molested girls including sisters

Seems this kind of thing happens more in environments where people's sexuality is so repressed that they don't kiss until they get married (or whatever else their ridiculous rules entail).

^^ This type of thing happens in all sorts of environments. College dorm rooms and rapes? Not exactly repressed environments. Penn State? Not a repressed environment. All sorts of homes where men who are not a girl's father have access to a young girl? Not repressed environments. No one has a monopoly on this.

The pp did not say it did not happen elsewhere.

This story makes me sad all around. Especially because if this was something he overcame it doesn't matter, the court of public opinion will make him and anyone associated with him a pariah.

I didn't watch the show much until recently I have been sick and watching more TV than usual and caught more episodes. Something about Josh (and Anna) always seemed a little off to me. He (and Anna) seemed to really like the limelight, money and attention from the show more so than the rest of the family. And the other family members all seem more genuine in their faith to me than he ever did.
Did anyone else get this feeling or impression?

Just insane what these people believe and do.

It's like having a problem with morbid obesity, and to deal with that, you're sent to a camp sponsored and catered by Coke and McDonald's reps

Anna's family was super poor and lived in a double wide trailer. I think she was happy just to get out of that life and have a nicer lifestyle (paid for by show profits and the Family Research Council gig).

She did get her teeth fixed after they got married (and presumably were getting their own family TLC checks).

Exactly. I didn't say that. I said it seems to happen MORE than it does in the general population (where it happens a lot--someone I know was a counselor at a sexual assault center for several years--the person had patients of all ages (toddlers to in their 80s), all socio economic backgrounds, etc. it's terrible and it happens a lot. It just seems to me that you hear even more stories about Catholic priests, making a vow of celibacy, and then spending years abusing kids than you do about the seemingly happily married Dad down the street who was permitted to date when he was 15, had sex with his wife before he married her and otherwise lives in a more sexually permissive environment. But maybe the data on this doesn't back me up. I don't know and I'm not going to dig it out (if it even exists).

TLC has pulled the show from the air.
