09:14: prep using practice tests is outside the design scope of the test. If they found out your kid prepped, the results would be discounted.

Sometimes people have a genuine problem understanding words. Sometimes people can use this as a "scamming" technique. Just throw a lot of dust in the air and hope to confuse people. |
What are practice tests?
Review of learning concepts with teacher, parent, Sis or tutor? Are practice tests dry runs with or without supervision? Any written, verbal, visual, digital, or bubbling activity that can in any way be construed by anyone as practice, prep, or review 29.9 days prior to taking the test. |
Are practice tests tests bought from a vendor or back of an envelope/napkin exercise drawn up by sage dcum parents free of charge? |
This is why the GBRS can be useful. Teachers who see a discrepancy between test scores and a child's day-to-day behavior in class can provide a description in the commentary section. Some folks don't like the GBRS and proclaim it as too subjective because they want only the test scores taken into account, but the GBRS is the perfect place for the child's present and past teachers to note their actual observations of the child in class. |
FCPS really needs to add "bubbling activity" and "review 29.9 days (as opposed to 29.8 or just 29 days) prior to taking the test" to their link discussing AAP and prep scamming. Those are obviously important indicators that many may have missed. |
Honestly, I think in some cultures it is more OK to cheat/scam to get ahead. |
Yea it'll probably reflect well on the crime rate by cultures in this country. |
I just don't believe that there are cultures that teach that it is okay to cheat or scam to get ahead. I do think that in every culture there are individuals who will cheat or scam to get ahead and will rationalize to justify their activities. I believe that most people in every culture are mostly honest and good. Sadly, there exists those who are only out for themselves who will take advantage of the honesty and good will of others. |
So true. You hit the nail on the head. All of those asian and indian students who are cramming the so called prep centers (aka scamming centers) are now also starting to overflow our prisons as well. When will the madness stop? Fairfax county needs to step up and do something now that the lid has been blown off of this in this scandal in this thread and in other threads. The conspiracy goes to the very top of FCPS with scamming parents, criminal teachers and high level bureaucrats supporting the misuse of public property for illegal scamming centers. Good job DCUM! |
Why? Don't you know students with C averages (grades assigned by the teachers you worship) who scored very well on standardized tests and conversely, students with A averages (teacher's pets) who for some reason or another never do well on standardized tests? What comentary can the teacher provide besides these facts. Without outside (external) tests for some students in the teacher's dog house their expert opinion is entirely worthless. Viva la outside test confirmation! |
+1000. No such thing as a culture that teaches it is okay to cheat or scam. |
Nigeria comes to mind.
|
And Gypsy culture. |
The widening gap or between Asians and other children of recent immigrants and all the rest. When you can't beat them in the classroom -- the weak and vanquished call them cheaters. Always refer to the past for valuable lessons in history. |
