| Aside from the weird, canned applause, the governor of VA hit a home run. A star is born. |
| Representative Al Green, Democrat of Texas, was escorted from the House chamber after holding up a sign reading “Black people aren’t apes!” — a retort to a racist video posted on the president’s social media account earlier this month. |

President Trump, aiming to reverse sliding approval ratings and increasing discontent with his economic and immigration policies, projected in his State of the Union address on Tuesday a version of the United States that is growing, safe and “winning.” The remarks offered few new policy revelations. Instead, Mr. Trump offered a rosy picture of the country’s economy, supported by dubious claims, and mocked Democrats’ focus on affordability. He also pushed stalled legislation that purports to address his often repeated — and equally often debunked — claims of widespread election fraud. Just days after the Supreme Court struck a blow to his signature tariff policy, Mr. Trump called the ruling “totally wrong” and said he would create an “even stronger” solution. And he announced that Vice President JD Vance would lead a “war on fraud,” which he falsely claimed was prevalent enough to balance the budget if eradicated. Mr. Trump’s tone shifted throughout his address, seesawing between soaring descriptions of the economy and U.S. foreign policy to angry attacks on Democrats, at one point saying: “These people are crazy.” |
Will people really fall for that after everything that has happened over the last year? Maybe, not sure though. |

Gov. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia said the cost of living is too high. It’s a complaint she said she had heard over and over from people living across her state. And Democrats across the country, she said, are focused on affordability.
Spanberger’s assessment of Trump’s speech: He has offered no solutions to the nation’s most pressing issues. |
Yes, it's an "old reliable" but, as usual, Trump has sort of missed the plot. Nativist rhetoric usually works when the issue is high unemployment -- push out the immigrants and you'll create jobs for native-borns. But it's the reverse when the issue is affordability/inflation. Do you think healthcare is going to be cheaper when we deport or scare off all the nurses and CNAs and pharmacists that are largely foreign-born? Or that food is going to be cheaper when we scare off all the immigrants that are working in our fields, manufacturing plants, and slaughterhouses? Or what about the price of leisure travel and restaurant dining after we deport/scare off all the people clean the hotel rooms, wash the dishes and sheets, and prep the food at restaurants. Prices will definitely go up due to labor shortages. That's really, really basic economics. Is anyone around here old enough to remember the 1970s? That period had some of the lowest immigration rates (1970 had a record low of foreign-born Americans), and stuff was CRAZY expensive. My dad had a good job and we lived like poor people do now. Hotels were only for rich people, and we only went out to dinner maybe for a birthday. |
Great news !!! Weird how young people want jobs?? |
They're such snowflakes that way. They should care about real things, like whether you need to sit through a 1-hour powerpoint once every few years in which the HR department tells you to try not to tell offensive jokes at work. /s |
I didn’t watch it, I just followed along with people making fun of trump online. The fact checking will be the only thing worth digging into |
It’s nice to be reminded that there are serious people out there. |
| This SOTU is already old news. People will wake up tomorrow realizing that grocery prices are not down and their health insurance is too high. Oh and once Trump bombs Iran, it’s over for MAGA. |
Bombing Iran will increase oil prices. Gas could go to $8 a gallon but that is a price the American people are willing to pay for Israel’s never ending wars. |
Yes look at the Republicans create sanctuary states like Texas and Florida. No enforcement or masked gunmen on the streets of Dallas or Miami. |
Yes, it’s hard to talk that long without putting forth any actual plans or programs. |

Trump’s description of American is a horrible place. It’s all just killing, drug burning cities, pedophiles, etc.
You can tell Trump and the Republicans really hate Americans |
