What about Monday?

If we get more snow I think MCPS should consider doing it again. Once you get around June 10th absolutely nobody wants to be in school.

The issue with that is HS and MS classes get extended by a meaningless 3 minutes per class and the elementary school kids lose their minds sitting in school for an extra 20-30 minutes. It's really not a good use of time at all.

Also, Teacher contracts state a certain work day. Each teacher would be required to be paid for that extra 20-30 minutes unless you wanted to risk violating union contracts. Also, paraeducators have very specific and rigid time allotments so you'd be adding extra time that has zero special education support which is against the law.

The high schoolers will not be walking in the dark then. And if they are on the roads, at least the car drivers will see them

Give your kid a flashlight. Your fear of the dark isn't a good reason for my kids to have to wait until 10:30 to go to school.

Your kids will still be idiots even with the two extra hours of school

Maybe. But they're 7 and 8. What's your excuse?

Get off social media. You need actual help.

Imagine calling someone mentally ill because they are not happy about a stranger calling their elementary-aged children idiots because they are concerned about their safety walking to school. Get a grip!

ICE vs Snow

Shut up if you think kids could go back safely

Then buy a dictionary.

At least this ICE isn't going to shoot us 3 times in the chest

Look at the footprints. Clearly people have been walking on it fine all week. That's how it got packed down.

It’s always the elementary school parents who lose their minds.

Most of the footprints were made early in the week before it was solidly frozen, or they are made possible in certain areas that get more sun. Surely you understand science.

There's a very simple test. Find undisturbed snow. Step on it. Unless you're a very small child, you will sink.

I predict a 2 h delay tomorrow

Roads are looking better but no idea if the schools have been cleared properly.

There are way more E’s this semester. Many kids are used to totally blowing off assignments, skippping, etc. and then turning in late work second quarter to get a C or D to rescue the grade often with the help of a teacher. Or they get a C 1st quarter and realize they can do no work 2nd and still pass the semester. Those options are gone now. EML grades are terrible at the moment even with co-taught courses. Many students just wander the hall since mathematically there is no way for them to pass a course.

There’s nothing wrong with getting help. More people should seek it.
