You'll notice a big difference here...
The people saying "The Army parade was fantastic!" and "No Kings marches were a bust, nobody showed up" got nothing. No credible sources, no posts with photos and videos to prove it. Whereas the people saying Trump's parade was poorly attended, boring and poorly executed have post after post after post, with photos and videos and expert sources, just as they have post after post after post with photos and videos showing big turnouts for the No Kings marches. The Trump apologists have nothing. No sources, no evidence to back anything up, they aren't even credible liars and everyone here on DCUM can plainly see it. Snap out of it. You're all propping up a fantasy which is not based in fact. You aren't doing yourselves, Trump, or the nation any favors with this nonsense. And you sure as hell aren't "owning the libs" with any of it given we can see right through your BS. |
+1 absolutely do not |
A much better celebration would have been something on the mall with different periods and units of the army deployed. Like in one section a WWI trench simulation, a civil war camp, etc. With period costumers and the soldiers showing the lived experience. The people waiting along the sides wanted to see tanks. They didn't care about soldiers, they were there for the heavy machinery in motion. I mean this is what Trump and MAGA really want to see: ![]() |
It's not part of cultural history in the US to do these on any sort of regular basis They are generally done after a war is over to honor those who fought. |
Troopimg of the Colour has been a British Celebration since forever. Same as France’s Bastille Day parade. The parade was a whole new thing created by Trump. Also, the British aren’t using tanks. |
+1 I'd rather have used the money spent on this parade to upgrade services and facilities offered at VAs across the country. Would you disagree with that? |
We import almost ll our fireworks from China. You know they are punking TACO boy. They don’t send blue or white, we don’t have blue or white. But, they 100%,could have done something with drones.. |
They send what’s ordered by a fireworks coordinator. Not a conspiracy. Some MAGA pussy said we don’t like blue. 🙄 |
I saw tanks like that at our armory all the time when I was a kid. For free! |
We also had a whole war about not being like the British. And we won. |
So the US standard should be what the UK does? The UK has a royal family that cost the tax payers tons of money each year. I thought we fought a war to not have that. Or….does the US need a military parade like North Korea? Trump seemed especially complimentary of North Korea during his first term. The US military is the most advanced & largest in the world. It’s a fact. We don’t need to prove anything. Trump has made this military parade about him, not the troops. That’s why so few people showed up. |
If this is real, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. |
For above, I goofed. I was trying to respond to the poster saying “If the UK can have a military parade, why can’t the US?” |
If what’s real? The song is definitely real. Its part of the American musical cannon. Sung at Woodstock, in Forest Gump, etc. it was really a Vietnam protest song about millionaires with Ben spurs who spent the 98% off to fight their war. It’s incredibly on the nose. Hopefully no one explains it to Trump, or ketchup will fly. Because it was 100% mockingbird him. And it’s the official video, but obviously wasn’t shot in the late 1960s. It was released in 2017? Or 2018? For the 50th anniversary of the band/song. If they really played it for Trump it’s an enormous F—- You. One that he’s too illiterate to catch. But I bet Obama and Biden and both Clintons were cracking up. The interesting blip is the NYC skyline. The Twin towers were built starting in 1966 over about 8 years. it looked like one of the original twin towers was standing in the background (I paused the video to check, because that view always gets to me, and always dates films from the 80s and 90s. It looks like the second had not been built or wasn’t fully built? IDK if that’s CGI or original footage, but they made an effort to make a video that was historically accurate to the 1960s. Here’s some interesting background. https://klofmag.com/2018/07/creedence-clearwater-revival-fortunate-son-official-music-video/ |
I’m glad the birthday baby got his parade. 100% respect how the Army handled it (or didn’t). Masterclass in malicious compliance, and the mad little boy who got his birthday wish and still wasn’t satisfied act was priceless. |
