A lot of southerners reject therapy and mental health help, especially for boys. They just need church or to toughen up.

Neighbors and former landlord have spoken to the press. Seems like the mother was a complete nightmare: locking kids out of the house for hours (with kids banging on door to get back in), mother driving up and down street drunk, mother passed out in driveway or on front lawn with car running and music blaring, mother screaming. Father seemed to not be much of a problem but also seemed to stand by while wife did all this. Mother recently arrested for beating and tying up her own elderly mother.

The shooter in this case seems to be from a poor family too, with a history of at least one eviction. I don’t see anyone making excuses for him because he’s poor though. You think white people should be held to a higher moral standard?

The mom also has numerous arrests across various GA counties as well as drug/alcohol use. Why wasn’t child protective services called when the FBI and local police had already come to the home? Why were the children left in the home when they strongly suspected the kid posted those messages? Sounds like teachers, family and neighbors knew it was a very rough situation but no one helped him. Just telling the schools to watch him clearly wasn’t enough. This is indicative of not just that community, but how we as a nation treat families and esp children in need. We reap what we sow.

A lot of these people reject the help. They don’t want nosy neighbors or the state in their business.

Police should do them, but not the kids.

They really do. I've posted here before, but every time my daughter's teachers change the seating assignments in their classrooms, the kids assess with each other who has the good seats and who has the bad seats, and it's all based on where they would be if a shooter entered the room. It's a sick way to go to school, yet here we are.

The village failed these kids. And of course the idiot Father who bought his troubled son a gun for Christmas even after he had threatened to shoot up a school. Both will go to jail, people will be satisfied that justice was served and the system that makes guns very easy to access and failed to help these kids will not change and there will be more school shootings and tiny coffins in a few weeks.
