When should DC drop its school mask mandate?

Now.
They should drop the mask mandate right now.

Will they maybe now given the new guidance from the CDC?

DC is now a "low" transmission area. DCPS needs to make masks optional immediately. I will certainly stop wearing it at drop-off and pickup.

+1. Masks should be optional in schools NOW.

The CDC has been like the most conservative body out there with respect to precautions so if this isn’t enough to change things in DCPS, what will be?

I doubt Bowser will change stance. She will follow PG and allow removal outdoors which is going to be hard to implement. Have 5 year olds hood their masks in hands while playing then put back before going inside? Or put back on once they’re back in the class which require them to be unmasked in hallways. It’s proves that it’s theater at that point.

Maybe PG should have waited until the new CDC guidance came out... How can they justify continued masking in schools?

Ugh yes. Moving to the area from MA and outdoor masking hasn’t been required here in ages….. but our preschool still does because it’s too much trouble to do the on/off. I don’t blame the teachers but I hate it.

I’m pretty sure PG had wind of what today’s changes were going to entail and made the comment today accordingly.

Then how can they justify continued indoor masking for kids only???

Are charters required to follow DCPS or could they start rolling back masking guidance to be in line with CDC?

Not just Lee .. many of them will be right there with you having their 10 day quarantines, full school PCRs, cohorting, and masks until at least next fall.

To answer the question .. they CAN but they will not.

Definitely not just Lee. MV8 is doing a fund raising campaign for higher quality kid masks and I just want to scream, “you’re going the wrong direction!!”
