I wish we had a/an _____ restaurant in DC...

For me, I wish we had a really great Korean BBQ place within city limits (I know and have been to a few in MD/VA).

I think a quality Chicago-style pizza place would be awesome as well.

And more great breakfast spots, preferably with a Southern biscuity twist!

How would you fill in the blank?

A really good southern Italian restaurant.

Oooooooo YES please!

I'd say an organic rotisserie chicken place with a Mexican. Casual and easy for take out. Like the yuppie version of El Pollo Rico I grew up eating in CA.

^^Mexican twist! I meant to type. Not a sole employee from that country

mid priced Indian restaurant that was good
or any kind of decent cheap eats. You can eat well in DC, but you can't get out for under $50 when you do.

I wish the wait staff was not so stuffy.

I wish there was a sushi place on par with any in California. The ideas people have about acceptable sushi in this town depress me.

Also, a good ramen place on that same note (or shabu shabu, too, I can dream, right?)

A south Indian snack place -- dosas, etc would be a dream.

Agree!

Have your tried Daikaya?

Have you tried the dosa lady in the Foggy Bottom whole foods?

In DC?

Good, everyday Chinese, preferably Sichuan or Hunan. We were in the Bay Area over the summer and went to a neighborhood joint in Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hills area whose prices were on par with DC take out places but so yummy - real cooking, not dripping in packaged sauces.

A "southern style" Mexican restaurant with white queso and where #11 is a taco, a burrito and an enchilada and costs $8.99

I'd love to have a quality red sauce joint, old school but updated a la the Carbone in NYC.

It's ok but I am still dreaming of this place:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/daikokuya-los-angeles

which was so good I was even happy to have jury duty just to get lunch there. Daikaya compared to that is better than the sushi places around here compared to sushi on the west coast, but just not all that satisfying. Plus the wait is kind of silly for what you get.
