I love this thread, but some of the posters are flat out stupid. It was $70K a year for DONALD paid to one of Ivanka's favorite stylists. It was not for Ivanka, and it was not in the past four years.

Uh, no. Do you know what a peplum is?

Yes. Peplum: “a short flared, gathered, or pleated strip of fabric attached at the waist of a woman's jacket, dress, or blouse to create a hanging frill or flounce.”

Ivanka’s pants incorporates an extraneous pleat of fabric that serves no purpose—just like peplum.

It’s just a crease. There’s no EXTRA fabric.

DP. The second crease is a stupid embellishment. Say what you will about one crease, they make structural sense, they’re the balance line of the design. They’re easy to set because it’s the fold point when side seam and inseam are aligned. They hold a crease because the align with the leg. What’s a second crease? In practice it will end up like Ivanka’s, looking like some irreversible pressing mishap.

The second crease creates a pleat:

Yeah, the second pleat extends from the typical 2nd dart position, but those don’t map to the ankle. Even if it’s a pleat that ads fullness that doesn’t extend to the full length, it’s a wedge. The is an ugly flourish.
