double or single kitchen sink?

Which is your preference?

Single, big and deep. I need to lay a sheetpan down in it or I get cranky.

Double, but it has to be big.

Double for sure

Single. I don't really see much of a benefit to a double.

Double where 1 is the size of a giant single. Small side sink with disposal.

+1. That way the garbage going down the disposal isn't mixed with my giant sheet pan.

I've had both and doubles are a waste of time and space.

The only things I wash by hand are the pans that are too big for the dishwasher and they're certainly too big to wash in a double sink. Not to mention that only one of the drains will have a disposal on it and the drain without one gets gross really fast.

My old house had a double sink. The second I moved into my new house, I had the double sink replaced with a big deep single (same footprint as the double). That was 16 years ago and I still love my big sink.

I prefer one giant sink. I feel like double is left over from the days of washing dishes in the sink and needed a clean rise area. I'm about to get one 34" sink and I am looking forward to it.

Single! I can't stand double sinks. Ditto on above post regarding the wash/rinse sides....

I much prefer standard equal size double sinks. Any of the big, deep sinks (whether single or the double with one big and one tiny little disposal sink, hurts my back. I spend a fair amount of time around the sink, whether prepping food/fruits/veggies, making lunches, doing non DW dishes and bending over and down into the sink repeatedly strains my lower back. I've never had, but my best friend and his mother both have such sinks and over the years, spending many holidays with his family and helping with kitchen chores and dishes, it takes about 15-20 minutes of working with those sinks before my back reminds me why I've never owned one of those sinks. As I get older, I definitely appreciate the regular height sinks. I also like having double because we often set used dishes in one sink and wash them after a few hours. Dishes can build up and not take up counter space and we still have a sink to use.

You can get single sinks that are standard depth. We just replaced ours and had a range of depths to choose from.

Love our new dingle sink.
