double or single kitchen sink?

Deep single is great, but we are limited by existing footprint. We have an arched faucet with pull-out/spray button and it is a great combination.

This is what I have. I love it. DH hates it. I grew up in a house with a double that was equal on both sides, so I became adept at washing big items in the non-disposal side. Now mine has a small disposal side and a large washing side and I think it's heaven. I dislike single sinks. I don't want to have food mix with pots I'm cleaning.

I had a double sink in my old house and HATED it. It was too small to wash large pans. My new house has a 30" single sink that's 12" deep. I love it!

I agree that the double sinks are left over from the days when you left one sink filled with water for soaking dishes. Who does this nowadays? I have a prep sink, which I use for rinsing vegetables, or I put a colander in the big sink and rinse vegetables there.

I'd never get a double sink. Loathed that old sink!

I grew up in a home with a double sink, and I'd take my large, single sink over that any day!! Gotta be able to put those large pans inside!

I just got a nice farm/single sink. What is that grate on the bottom for? Do I leave it in there all the time??? I feel like it impedes me getting my food down the disposal. What am I missing?

Large single is a million times more preferable!!! I do not like double sinks at all.

Amen! Hated our stupid double sink, love our big single sink so much easier to use!

I chose a single sink since we needed more counter space.

I've had both. Definitely single deep sink. the compartments in double sinks arent quite large enough.

Single deep sink. I love ours.

The fact that you shouldn't be shoving food down the disposal.

Lately I've been seeing pics on Pinterest etc. with two farm house sinks with a small counter space between them. I think that would be ideal. Do you have space for that?

Single big cleanup sink, secondary smaller prep sink.

WTF does this mean?

Disposal is for bits of food you miss, puts a lot of strain on sewar system when folks cram food down. Food should go in compost or trash.
