| Cooking dinner for wife and daughter. Want to make a stir fry - chicken, green pepper, onion, peanuts. I stir fry with olive oil. If I make past with it, what kind of sauce would I use? Would I just take the olive oil I have been cooking with and pour everything over the pasta? |
| I sometimes just use garlic, olive oil and cheese. However, more often I lighten up the recipe by stirfrying in a mixture of chicken stock and olive oil. I use the boxed chicken broth -- about a 1/2 cup does the trick! |
I have some cans of chicken broth. Are you saying stir fry using 1/2 cup of this + olive oil? |
| Great DH! You have so many options. You can throw in a little store "stir fry sauce", though they are thick so you can water down. Or chicken broth, or some pasta water as long as your stir fry has lots of flavor. |
Awesome, thanks everyone. |
| One fun thing to do is throw in cooked spaghetti noodles (broken up) and then some thinned out peanut satay sauce if you have that. You can thin with water and add a splash of soy sauce if you've got it. It's like a yummy lo mein dish. |
| Pad thai sauce |
| Sweet and sour sauce is my go to |

I make stir fry all the time with pasta or rice. If I want an East Asian flavor, I put soy sauce or a bit of fish sauce (warning, this aroma can be very strong). If I want a South Asian flavor, I add curry or garam masala or maybe just coriander seasoning. If I want Italian, I add chopped olives, basils, oregano, (like a basil pesto) and a bit of cheese (parmesan is best). Throw some nuts in if there are any. If i want sauce with it, i just add water.
It's the quickest way to cook and put dinner on the table in 20 minutes (cutting and cooking). |
