DH and I are planning to go out for a luxurious, over-the-top dinner to celebrate our 5yr anniversary, recent promotions, and large bonuses. There is no budget for the evening. Where would you go?
Our only limitation is that it must be local, though anywhere in the DC metro area is fine. We have a newborn who really hates taking bottles, so I'm not willing to do an overnight trip. |

For an over-the-top foodie type night I would go with a chef's table: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chef%27s_table
One of these perhaps: http://www.gayot.com/restaurants/best-washington-dc-top10-chefs-tablerestaurant_8dc.html |
| Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons, seafood tower, steak and lots of brown liquor. |
| Komi |
|
I didn't have a great experience at Bourbon Steak.
Second Komi, if you can get in. |
| Money no object, Sushi Taro's chef's counter or City Zen. Ridiculously good deal would be Roberto's Eight at Al Dente. |
|
Inn at Little Washington
or Capella Hotel |
+1 |
Just realized you said local. So best choose from the other places. |
|
Komi or minibar. Both take work to snag a reservation. Other options are Marcel's and Plume.
Been to all of the restaurants on the gayot list, cityzen, and sushi taro. Although some are really great places and good "fine dining" options, I don't think of them as really over the top. |
| Odyssey dinner cruise |
| The tasting menu at Iron Gate |
Seriously? |
| Tasting menu at Rose's Luxury or City Zen |
| Minibar. It's food theater. |
