Inspired teaching question

Is IT closing early on Thursday too or is it only Lee closing at 11:45? Wondering if it's a structural need or something else...
Anonymous
Not an IT thing.

It's probably their professional development / meeting time. A lot of the HRCS have an early dismissal day once a week.

My guess is that it impacts the entrance to Lee, but not to IT. If the path to the entrance is blocked by equipment the kids won't be able to get in or out safely.

1910 again, I meant related to the play ground installation, fyi.

Lee's professional development is on Wednesdays. It's specific to the playground. Annoyed that they are closing early for no explained reason (pp if it was blocking the sidewalk I could understand but since they don't end school until 4, they're closing 4 hours early.

This is my guess, too.

Yep. We have children at both and only received notification from Lee about the early closure. The email stated they had to close as a result of the construction.

I wish they could do a field trip!

Aftercare for IT is closing early, 5PM.

Very weird!!! Nothing about the construction looks like it will cause insurmountable problems.

safety concerns. better safe than sorry.

Hmmm. We will see whether it is about safety. I'll bet there is something else going on.

Like what????? It's pretty clear that the access to the playground for heavy machinery would block the access to the entrance to Lee. If the kids can't get in and out in case of an emergency then it's a safety issue.

The signs inside the building clearly say that it's due to playground construction.

Admin and staff at Lee have been nothing but forthcoming, timely and professional in relaying information to parents. They have absolutely nothing to gain by lying about the purpose of a school closure. They do however have lots to lose, including the trust and confidence of Lee parents. If they say it's the playground, it's the playground. If they say it's necessary, it's necessary. They're not playing hooky to hit Kings Dominion people.
