Yup, it is sickening to read the Avenatti email. I cannot belief that there are supposedly well educated people who behaved like animals and got away with it because of position and power of their parents.

What's telling, too, is not just the attitude towards women that these alleged actions betray. If true, it shows that these supposedly elite men are incredibly insecure and will basically do anything to appease the alpha male "leaders," including treating women like trash just to prove that they aren't at the bottom of the hierarchy. I pity anyone who behaves like this. Going along with the herd, always having to please and prove yourself -- even if it means forcing yourself on a woman who's blackout drunk when you're too drunk to feel anything, or pulling out your penis and shoving it at someone. So pathetic. And incredibly sad that Americans don't have the moral fiber to demand better from their leaders.

I saw that, too. So much deep unhappiness, by the boys and the girls.

Not a psychologist, but I'm guessing that if K did this but is still denying it, he is deeply in denial and the self-righteousness of his denials comes from the part of him actually believes he has been victimized. But the point is that, if that's true, he allowed himself to be victimized and did not stand up against this; he felt he had to go along to get what he wanted out of this social circle. I always wonder about people like this. What does it take for their little world to come crashing down? Does being this dependent on what others think just eat you up at night?

Not a therapist, not playing one on he internet: how depressing and unsurprising that he plays Hero Coach to All Girls in his visibly personal life, and married lateish for his generation and social set, to a bland, Chico’s and Loft type life partner, after a decade or more of blackout binges and running trains. Madonna and whore issues are as expected for his type as a closet full of Dockers.

Fascinating. This describes so many guys I know. But why, what's the thread that holds all these things together? Aside from the self-deception.

The drinking is the root of the problem. I'm surprised there hasn't been more concern about it. Oh, wait—most of you reading this are already on your 2nd or 3rd glass of wine, amiright?

Because he stopped that behavior decades ago and it was common for teens in 1982 to party HARD.

Mr. white privilege will end up just fine-with plenty of money to spend and no jail time. If he were black he would have been imprisoned long ago, but white and rich? Nah...just a good old asshole boy doin his white privilege thang with his thang.

I hear you but he has no money, he has virtually nothing to show for his prep school and Yale degree . A loser in every sense of the word .

How does he have no money? What does his judgeship pay? Does his wife work?

Whole thread about this in the Money and Finance forum. Agreement seems to be that he is no different from many in the area--more house than he can actually afford and low savings rate owing to living beyond his true means.

Thanks—didn't see that. I'll check it out.

Did you see the Madelano quote about Judge the other day - it was something like: Judge was a deeply unhappy man who made himself happy by making others unhappy.

Brett Kavanaugh must also be asked about this entry in his yearbook: "FFFFFFFourth of July." We believe that this stands for: Find them, French them, Feel them, Finger them, F*ck them, Forget them. As well as the term "Devil's Triangle." Perhaps Sen. Grassley can ask him.

I think Avenatti has a MALE source for his info, as well as a female client

Good God. More proof that intelligence does not equal maturity. Brett’s emotional intelligence score must be in the single digits.

So the drinking isn't a concern now because it presumably has stopped, but the (alleged) behaviors it enabled that it appears also stopped are still a problem? I was in college in the early 80s so I know how crazy it was, and I know a lot of people who never recovered from things that happened as the result of the excesses.

My favorite line from the newest accuser:

Ramirez acknowledged that there are significant gaps in her memories of the evening, and that, if she ever presents her story to the F.B.I. or members of the Senate, she will inevitably be pressed on her motivation for coming forward after so many years, and questioned about her memory, given her drinking at the party.

It's almost as if she knows she's lying.

BWAHAHAHAHHAAA. Insanity reigns.

How didn't any of this come out in Kavanaugh's background checks?

Have you been under a rock since July? This has been discussed. Wife earns $66k. He earns $216k. $1.8 million home. $90k Bethesda Country Club initiation. $110k Congressional Country Club initiation. $40k per year tuition for the girls. $200k in credit card debt went poof in the last year but didn't come from his bank accounts. $30k in savings. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/07/new-strike-against-kavanaugh-season-tickets/565022/

Very low self-esteem.

What would have caused it in this case? No clue, but here's some speculation:

If this is indeed a pattern of conduct, the whole double life (madonna/whore) thing makes me wonder if he himself was a victim of abuse at some point.

Bullying father?

Something totally inappropriate or even awful at church when he was younger?

Again, this is TOTAL speculation, of course. But often serial abusers were themselves abused.

In the process of a typical security clearance, they don't interview your high school classmates unless they already have a reason to look there (eg, arrest in high school or expulsion). They generally only go back to the most recent 7 years.

In addition, as part of a security clearance, you will provide a list of names for the investigators to meet with. Generally, these are your friends and family; they will not rat you out for what they perceive to be minor indiscretions and will generally cast the applicant in a favorable light.

Investigators also interview ex-girlfriends. But if Kavanaugh wasn't too serious with anyone, then he likely told them he wasn't in any relationships. This is where investigators can usually dig up the real dirt. But Kavanaugh seems as if he avoided relationships.

My understanding is that FBI does a background check for things that happened 18 and older. GP has their secrecy code.
