ECNL forcing Brave & Union Partnership

Doesn't the FVU thing affect the top girls more than the top boys?

I mean, the best boy players (for the most part) play in MLS Next, not ECNL. FVU doesn't effect any of those teams. There are of course some Union/Brave players on the boys side orphaned as a result, but they were never considered top players in the area (and now they certainly are not). Its not like Union or Brave had well known power teams on the boys side.

The best players on the girls side play ECNL, so FVU may have more of an affect on the girls side. Not sure how many top Union/Brave players are going with FVU or joining completely new teams. Rumor has it some are moving to Arlington, but not sure how much of that is true.

I don't know why there is so much anger on the boys side. I don't see FVU really changing much for the boys (at least not as much compared to the girls).

FVU took two existing ECNL teams and merged them. Girls and their family tried out elsewhere because of the uncertainty. Plenty decided to take offers at other clubs

It’s not just the older boys. We learned today that some of the stronger younger boys who we assumed would be playing for McLean are heading to Arlington.

Do you know what age group?

In general it affected girls more. But you’re looking at things very linear. MLS Next is the top league, but that doesn’t mean the top 3-5 players on an ECNL team couldn’t make a MLS Next Club. Maybe more if that Club decided to keep bigger rosters to make more money out of the situation or plans on doing a bait and switch and making an offer for the top team but have them play on the second. Which happens!
So top boys from Union and Brave had Arlington, VDA, SYC and Alexandria as options. Then there were the bottom boys. Anyway you look at it 20-25 boys a year who played ECNL are looking for spots. It’s shaking things up.

With the Philadelphia team joining the North Atlantic conference and 1 less team in Mid Atlantic, will Maryland United will move to Mid Atlantic? **Push to 300 post**

Realign all the conferences and keep us local.

No at least because of high school soccer season.

07G - NVA 1st, Union 4th
08G - NVA 3rd, Brave 4th, VDA 5th
09G - NVA 1st, VDA 3rd
10G - Union 2nd, VDA 3rd, Brave 5th

07B - Richmond 1st, Arlington 2nd, Beach 3rd
08B - VDA 2nd, NVA 3rd,
09B - Arlington 2nd, Beach 3rd
10B - NVA 2nd, VDA 4th

VA teams seem to be doing fine. Not sure how Nova ECNL consolidation is going to make NC teams suddenly dominant.

No MD United has high school soccer in the Fall. Bethesda is closer to NOVA teams anyway. Most likely a PDA team will move back to the north atlantic conference.

All the PDA teams are in North Atlantic already so no. More likely North Atlantic gets 4th playoff spot and everyone stays

I wonder if the MA conference would still keep 5 with one less team.
Anonymous
Good point, they could only give 4 to MA.
Anonymous
If they did 4 to MA that would make sense but I don't know if they'd just give it to NA because there are only 10 teams. But I don't know how ECNL does all this, maybe someone here is more knowledgeable on all this and can enlighten us.
