We are going to Davidson next month for Senior visit day...anyone have any thoughts on the school? Graduates how have you done in "life"? Can people say whether/if its worth the investment?

I've never heard of it. No snark intended.

Curious - why did you bother to post? It's a well-known school, at least on the East Coast.

+1 (probably a troll)....according to that dreaded US News "thing"......its in the list of top 10 Liberal Arts Schools...perhaps the poster had not heard that....

truth be told....some have said that its reputation outside of the South and East is a little on the light side. But its a good school

We visited this spring. I loved it and would go there in a heartbeat, but the town was too small for DC. Stay at the Davidson Inn if you can get a room.

Although I didn't go there, Davidson is a great school. I went to a Little 3 school and would have also been happy at Davidson.

I've heard a lot of talk about grade deflation.

Graduated from Davidson 15 years ago. I had an amazing time and made my best friends there. Every time I read the alumni magazine I am struck by how successful graduates are. Many scientists/ doctors, lawyers, clergy. Solid, traditional fields. The vast majority of people I know from Davidson are really truly good people. The school has a strong honor code and is focused on character development. Many kids are from upper middle class country day type schools in the South. Probably more diversity now than there was when I was there. Very rigorous academically.

Another Davidson grad here. It is a wonderful place. You are taught by professors, not TAs. Classes are small. The school has great study abroad programs---12 to 15 student semester long intensive programs---some are language-based (Spain, Mexico, France, Germany), some are culturally based (a semester in India), some are arts/history based (there are art history and classics seminars in France, Italy, Greece and Turkey). Almost all graduates go on to graduate school---mostly law, business, medicine. Super strong alumni network. Over 20 years later, I still have a group of extremely close friends from college---we don't see each other regularly, but any one of them would be at my side in a flash in an emergency.

Even President Woodrow Wilson went there! (Pre-Princeton.)

I know 2 alums (in 20s and early 30s) and they are both delightful. Really smart, kind, people--and they LOVED their time at Davidson.

Decent basketball team some years, too.

One question: Does it offer merit aid?

Fairly conservative and religious (campus tour emphasizes that most students attend chapel). Rigorous and beautiful. Not too diverse.

Great regional school. Won't help get wall st or valley type job but for dc Charlotte Atlanta corridor excellent.
