Mexican mondays? or menus for each day of the week?

Anonymous
The second person told me today they did "Mexican Mondays."

Is this a thing? I can see that it might be good for kids to have some structure...

Do you have a traditional meal for each day of the week?

I think people do this for simplicity and to help them menu plan. "Mexican" probably means taco bar. Probably easier to prep ingredients the day b/f and use up left overs through the week. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Christopher Kimball from America's Test Kitchen talks about growing up Thursday was alway pasta night at his house. So the themed idea of cuisine's been around a while.

I have a weekly routine, as did my mom. For me, it makes shopping/planning easier. My kids like knowing what to expect. For us, it tends to be...

Mon - soup & bread or sandwich (winter) or salad (summer)
Tues - Mexican
Wed - cook's choice (I work at home so that's the day I might make something that takes a bit longer to make or a new recipe I want to try)
Thurs - pasta
Fri - cook's night off (leftovers or eat whatever you can find in the kitchen that I don't have to cook!)
Sat - homemade pizza
Sun - breakfast for dinner

"Meatless Mondays" is a thing, for people wanting to cut down on meat consumption, and broaden their veggie horizons.

OP here. These are really helpful! please keep them coming. I like this idea, and think it will minimize struggles with my pickier eater

Let's take extra care to follow the instructions or you'll be put to sleep, and don't forget Taco Tuesday's coming next week!

No idea. But my mom usually did pasta on Thursday. Was there some pasta campaign back in the 60s-70s?

Probably b/c fish has been traditionally served on Friday, and families had run out of meat by the time they got to Thursday.

I might switch to pizza on Friday and fish on Saturday. Some Fridays I just can't get to the grocery, and I like my fish as fresh as possible. Whatever day you grocery shop, have the fish that night.

Make extra rice on Tuesday and use it for a stir-fry or fried rice on Thursdays. Call it Asian night?
