I would suggest you consider Luca.

Sorry, didn't see you had used Vincent already. What about Patrizio, Felice, or Dante.

I know a little boy named Marcelo and it's adorable! I also like Luca as a nn for Gianluca

Corrado is cool, very old school. A name of my sweet Italian grandfather's generation (born about 1900). Other family names of that generation: Cataldo, Italo, Rocco, Serino, Guiseppe, Enzo, Bernardo, Leo

Corrado could be shortened/Americanized to Cory-which is cute too but I prefer the old world charm of the full name.

I really like your other children's names and love many of the names suggested in this thread.

I am not crazy about either of the choices you listed. Here is why:

Gianluca looks really nice in writing but does not sound good and is difficult to pronounce. I think it is because of where the tongue is in the mouth when you make the N sound, and where it needs to be to make the L sound. It is too choppy a name. What makes Italian names wonderful is that they look beautiful and just roll off the tongue, sounding just lovely. This name is missing the musical sound that defines Italian names.

Corrado also has a bad sound. It is a very "hard" sounding name and it looks hard too. That gives it two strikes in the Italian name rating. It does not look good, nor does it sound good in my opinion. Your other kids names both look good and sound good, especially the girl name. This name does not match their names. I also wouldn't think "Italian" name by looking at it. I would think that you came up with the name based off a place or a car.

OP here. Thanks for the insight. Carmella was my mothers name and Corrado is also a family name but I do realize the Sopranos connection. I am thinking that with this up in coming generation it won't be a big deal though?? I also agree Gianluca seems hard to pronounce but its really not...John-Luca. I worry Corrado will get shortened to Cory which I really don't care for. Keep the suggestions coming!
