PP here. I was wrong. U.S. Citizens have to report worldwide income so going abroad for a year isn't a tax dodge. Doubt it's a statute of limitations dodge. I would think they could toll the statute while you fled justice. Maybe he wanted to reside somewhere long enough to buy a business or own property. In any event if it were fishy I doubt he would have spoken of it.

Meanwhile the notion that the assistant is just an idiot obsessed with Instagram doesn't explain misstatements to the police.

I don't like to be snarky or rude on DCUM, but I can't resist this: is torturing and then killing (presumably by burning alive) a married couple, a housekeeper, and a 10 year old boy 'normal'?

Many people react very viscerally to reading about tragedies because it triggers something for them. For others, the power of imagination is so strong that they literally can imagine this happening to themselves and their families and thus react in this way. And sometimes, people simply cry and mourn -- even those whom they never knew -- because the sheer tragedy of a story has that power.

Judgment is the last thing anyone who is reading or thinking about this thread needs. Perhaps some of the posters who've shared their deep despair need assistance with grieving, and perhaps those saying 'this isn't normal' or 'this is extreme' are intending to be helpful -- but it's not coming across that way....

There's something about the actions of the assistant that just isn't right. It will be interesting to see if the police come up with a link between him and Wint, even if it's indirectly. After seeing the pictures of the assistant posting the pics of the Bentley, Range Rover, Porsche, etc on is Facebook account, and learning that he also sent a pic of the money to someone, it seems very plausible to me that these thugs saw an opportunity and hatched a plan.

It's also interesting to read the report that states W-1's duties included driving SS to And from work. It's been widely discussed that it wouldn't have been ideal for DW to drive to the scene.....but with the VP residence and Foreign Embassy's close to the home, there isn't a public transport bus stop/train for several miles away.

The strange things coming out seem to point to a web of people/hobbies/employees somehow connected. The "go kart" injury sticks out for me, now that it's been reported W-1 was employed at the Go Kart facility where he met PS and SS and was the link for getting his new job for SS. This person was recently let go from watching a go kart track for a living to driving cars over $100,000 for a rich business executive and seemed to want everyone to know about it.

I honestly do not feel like this group had enough foresight to plan this crime out for years. Maybe a few months...or one?

I also do not understand the tax laws to accuse the decedants in this case. What may seem underhanded to me might be legal and standard to the wealthy. Why I am not wealthy.

I hope the folks involved do not receive the death penalty. I prefer for the guilty to rot in prison...even if it takes my tax dollars to pay for their incarceration. They will not be treated kindly...even with convictef felons.

Oh my goodness....been working all day and NEVER connected the fact the assistant worked for a Gokart company. I give up.

Woodley Park/Zoo Metro station is just a 10-minute walk away. And the N2 Metro bus stops nearby on Massachusetts Avenue, just a 5-minute walk away -- sadly, very near the Greek Orthodox Church where the funeral will occur. So DW (et al?) could easily have taken public transport to carry out the unspeakable plan.

Lord forgive me for saying this...but my my husband would have been banging on the door on Wed night. But, her husband coukd have beeen stewing all night thinking about the ramifications from her employer. My mother did not drive. My dad would have had a heart attack if she did not come home if he was accustomed to picking her up from a public transit.

Not accusing! Just many weird factors to a non law enforsement person. Why we have experts since I am not.

You are correct. If someone can torture and kill a child, they have no conscious. Since I have one, I have to quit trying to place myself in their mindset.

Do we know what the assistant looks like? Is he AA with short, well-groomed hair? Could he have been driving the Porsche?
