I liked that Saloni dress she wore to get of AF2 in India, I liked the white Mother's Day (or whatever it was) dress, and most recently I said she looked good at the peace officer thing. So, no, I wouldn't say that any mention of her looking good triggers me.

I don't think she looks like she doesn't wash her hair so I can't speak to that comment. It frequently looks unkempt and unbrushed but not dirty, imo.

Yes but this leaves out an important part - they moved to a very exclusive part of Cincinnati that is an hour away from Hamilton - which tells you how not normal middle class Usha is. She moved to the southern part of Cincinnati which is not unlike Kent.

Two, I am only a couple years younger than Usha and I would be mortified if I looked bad and someone was like "Yeah but this 50something woman also looked bad too." Like, you should try to be a bit more stylish than someone old enough to be your mother.

Agree to all this PLUS at the equivalent event Usha also looked terrible. It was that in that beige dress that started the thread that got shut down.


Also having revisited that thread I think the inappropriately off the shoulder for a luncheon blue dress we were just discussing is the same as her GOP convention speech dress.

That blue dress is HER dress. It's perfect for her body, the color looks amazing on her...I can see why she'd want to wear it frequently but a luncheon was not the place for that.

That beige dress was horrific. And the shoes! The Usha weirdo is I think referring to me whenever she brings up someone calling those shoes ugly because I did. But they are SO BAD. Even just a simple nude or black ballet flat would be fine.

Both ladies looked awful and pulled it together for their speeches. Usha in that blue number and Gwen I think wore either a suit or a knit dress of some kind. Either way I specifically remember her getting rid of that god awful ponytail which reminds me of the line in SATC where Anthony is planning Charlotte's wedding to Harry and screams a vendor "And I want looooong, elegant tapered candles, none of those short stubby little d*** candles!!!!"

Yes but this leaves out an important part - they moved to a very exclusive part of Cincinnati that is an hour away from Hamilton - which tells you how not normal middle class Usha is. She moved to the southern part of Cincinnati which is not unlike Kent.

And I am guessing Gwen Walz THOUGHT she looked good - her toes were exposed and she was wearing “linen” and a jacket.

I also think it's weird the Usha poster keeps bringing up Gwen Walz as an example of "she looked bad too."

One, plenty of us said that linen sack and messy ponytail were not a great look. Honestly I am old school and think sandals for professional events are not ideal, unless they have a bit of a heel to them.

Two, I am only a couple years younger than Usha and I would be mortified if I looked bad and someone was like "Yeah but this 50something woman also looked bad too." Like, you should try to be a bit more stylish than someone old enough to be your mother.

Again - why? And you are probably much younger than Usha. Your writing and very immature views on how a woman “should” look give it away.

True, those are facts - but one is a glamorous superstar and the other is a woman who has never sought the spotlight and only recently found herself in it. And she looks like the normal woman she is.

And therein lies the problem, PP. Nobody expects a late 30s woman in the spotlight, a political spouse who was a high powered attorney no less, to look normal. Once you make it to the level of political spouse, you need to look put together and if you're in your 30s and 40s, especially, you need to look like the type of person that others should strive to be. You want to be aspirational. Usha looks normal, but as a millennial woman in the spotlight, she needs to look better than normal. That is just the world's expectations. Especially nowadays.

I'm sorry, but this is so silly. Did Karen Pence look "aspirational"? How about Jill Biden? Your use of the word "need" tells me that you are a follower of trends and expect everyone else to be too. Usha Vance doesn't "need" to look anything other than professional and appropriate, which she does. Her age has absolutely nothing to do with it and certainly doesn't mean she somehow has more obligation to look "better than normal" than any other VP's wife.

Serious question...why do you care? There is a group of posters in this thread who take every comment about her SO seriously that people can be forgiven for thinking said posters know Usha. I can't imagine caring that much what people say about the outfits of someone I've never met, even if I'm a fan. I'd say I'm a casual fan of Meghan Markle but I don't really care if someone doesn't like her outfit or makeup at one appearance, unless it verges into racism like "She looks ghetto" or in Usha's case the comments about her looking like she smells bad were anti-Indian racism. Then I can imagine caring.

But insisting over and over again that she looks impeccable 100% of the time and getting mad whenever someone says she doesn't is strange behavior, even for a fan.

I don’t like everything she wears, but it’s insane to claim she “doesn’t care” or looks like she just “rolled out of bed.” The stupid hyperbole is very much a tell that something else is going on with the poster. I liked that Saloni dress she wore to get of AF2 in India, I liked the white Mother's Day (or whatever it was) dress, and most recently I said she looked good at the peace officer thing. So, no, I wouldn't say that any mention of her looking good triggers me.

I don't think she looks like she doesn't wash her hair so I can't speak to that comment. It frequently looks unkempt and unbrushed but not dirty, imo.

And you can push back on it all you want but the fact of the matter is the First Lady and Second Lady are meant to look aspirational. Melania manages this and she is almost 20 years older than Usha.
