Just got word from DD teammates; we’re beginning our search now. Really upsetting to see what club was go what it is now.

You could definitely keep shorts and socks from last year - the jersey is the issue. You’d have to see how different the new ones look. I think you could always try to find them cheaper online without the number and iron one on from michaels or something?? And the white one is probably easier to keep from last year than the navy because of the navy stripe pattern.

I get the shorts and socks from Amazon every year because they’re always cheaper than at soccer.com

OMG are we talking bout price of a uniform? we talking about the price of a uniform? Not the yearly fee but a the price of a uniform . we not talking bout the yearly fee we talking bout the price of a uniform. (in my AI voice)

For being known as the club that prides itself in sponsoring kids that can’t play because they can’t afford it... the fees went up this year. Players keep leaving. This means that team fees are higher. Many of us are not making money to pay travel soccer bills, and we couldn’t figure out a way to roll over these uniforms into a third year? Okay. Fine.

But now I’ve got to deal with my fellow members giving me a hard time because I have to figure out how to pay for another $158? I haven’t paid for a gallon of gas, a Panera sandwich, or a hotel yet. Thanks guy. Really love this “community”. And you know what, doesn’t even really hurt to leave this club, because this club is no longer what it once was. Goodbye.

The more join me on our new team, the easier it gets.

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I apologize for 'restarting' this one but I am getting a little worried. DC are new to area and club, this past season was our first. We were excited to be in the top team after not being in travel soccer too long, and were upset when the COVID-19 shortened the season. We haven't really been training much, because we were not certain we would return because my kids were not enjoying it too much. The coaches were okay and the kids were nice, but it was difficult because both DS and DD were playing games that were just too hard and it's hard to play when the games get out of hand.

We asked to play on second team for both, but they're asking us to be on both to be on top team again and now I saw this post:

I've been reading these comments and I'm getting worried that we're going to play on our first team again because there will not be a second team. We would just like to play, not have to reassure every car ride home (or even halftime in some of these games).

PP here. Since we're still relatively new, we don't know the families as much and we haven't heard back, just a few requests to accept the offer. Is anybody else going through this?

There are other local teams that play in ODSL or NCSL, if they want a team with a lower competition level, there are options

Yes but to my understanding, a few of the top teams already play in ODSL and NCSL, so I'm just not sure on why some teams are and some teams are not. But again, if you read my message, we have asked about the second team previously, but we're getting an offer again for the first team. This is why I'm worried, I feel like we might just be getting offered because there will only be one team (meaning same thing as last year with the discouraging games).

No teams play in ODSL. A few NCSL but most are CCL still. It all depends on age group. You also have to think that people may be slow to register due to covid which is why they are probably asking you to sign up. Your DS and DD can't have been offered top team unless above U16 since they are moving to academy in younger ages.

Did you speak to the coaches about the team assignment as you would not know simply from the LMVSC generic email sent extending an invitation to a team. I wouldn’t take a Facebook post to be a sign, as I have seen posts similar to that for several local clubs. If you are concerned, talk to your coach. Given that you want to be on the white team, I would ask your coach how many invitations were given for the age group and how many invitations have been accepted (not what is anticipated but accepted). I would also ask how many they want per team. Good luck!

Why would an advertisement for tryouts/open spots scare you. Every club is advertising open spots, even the bigger clubs in the area when they normally wouldn't. You are likely going to see it all summer along until there is a full return to play. Why hasn't your kid participated in the virtual training, although not the same as outdoor, it would have helped them improve their level for where ever they are placed next year.

I guess that makes sense, I must have read the emails wrong on getting us to register. Then again, since it is COVID, I wish there could be some understanding on registering.

Scare me? I said "a little worried". Every club is advertising, bigger clubs, virtual training, improve their level? You are really coming off as a if you are a coach because this is the same jargon I've heard from coaches, or you just seem very familiar with surrounding clubs which again makes me think you're a coach.

On the reassurances, I hear you. Everybody talks about the importance of learning how to deal with losing and beatings in developing resiliency. I generally agree. But getting walloped over and over again absolutely destroys the desire of most kids to play organized sports (as opposed to pickup). Kids know when there is a mismatch and go to games with dread. When stuck in these situations, you simply have to focus on the positive. Longer term, individually, you need to consider how your kid is reacting. Some care a lot more than others. For some, winning is really important. For others, being on a first team or in a good league is important. For others, playing with others you like is most important. All of these are often trade offs. I went through winless seasons as a kid in competitive basketball. It was horrendous. But I had no choice (it was a school team, and I would rather play than not play). I would rather sit bench on a .500 team any day of the weak and enjoy practices. But everybody reacts differently.
