Metropolitan DC Local Politics
It's meaningless word salad to 99.9% of everyone |
Frankly, all you gun nutters have convinced anyone of is the need to ban hunting guns too, along with handguns and assault weapons. So I freely admit I didn't know much about guns, but on learning here that a hunting gun and a sniper gun are basically the same thing, I definitely want hunting type guns outlawed because they can be used as sniper guns. That's a no-brainer. |
| Do you really want to outlaw hunting guns? We have a burgeoning deer population and even wild turkeys overtaking populated areas. |
If you do that, then you've basically outlawed deer rifles. |
Indecent exposure makes it illegal to open carry your private parts. There is nothing in Virginia law that prevents a county from making it illegal to expose your private parts on County property. But there ARE parts of Va Code that make it illegal for a county to ban open carry of guns on county property. That will likely be changed by the new majority in the General Assembly. |
There is no such proposal before the Va General Assembly. Ergo its off topic for this thread, which is, I think, about localities refusing to enforce laws that the GA might actually pass. |
Obviously criminals will find their ways around laws, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have common sense laws. For example, there are laws around theft, but has that eliminated thefts? Nope. Does that mean we shouldn't have theft laws because criminals don't follow them? If someone gives another a gun - straw purchase as you stated - then that person should be held accountable. The Saudi guy who shot up the US base recently bought the gun legally. I think we should not allow foreigners to purchase guns in the US. That's insane. But the NRA would fight against such a law because that would mean less gun sales, even if it's a tiny tiny % of all gun sales. That's who insane the NRA has become, or any gun nutter. |
I'm not a hunter myself, but I know that taking down a single deer can supply a family's protein intake for an entire winter, you're talking about 60-70lbs of meat. For those on lower income scale, living in a rural area, that is a lot of food. In some communities it is a way of life they won't easily give up as seen by this whole sanctuary thing. |
Good thing nutters like you aren't in charge. |
Since there is no proposal being floated in the GA that would ban hunting, how does the sanctuary thing show that? The laws proposed are extending background checks to gun shows, allowing localities to ban guns from public property (like a farmers market held on the plaza in front of City Hall) , a purchase limit of one gun per month (to prevent smuggling of guns from Va to other states) The gun folks are claiming its about taking your hunting rifle away. That's BS, there is no political move in Va to do that even if it were held to be constitutional. Just typical NRA straw man stuff to get people riled up. Lets focus on reality in this state. How many people commenting here are even from Virginia, I wonder? |
False. People routinely shoot at distances far greater than that for lawful motives. Stop trying to criminalize everyone. |
+1 She's another one of the loons. |

You can hunt deer without a gun. Get a bow. Get a crossbow. You can even use an atalatyl. You don't need a gun.
No one is talking about banning hunting. No one. |
He's a clown bro. |
I'm moderately anti-gun and I definitely want hunting guns/sniper guns banned. |
