Don't see the above poster being a troll in anyway. Also, whoever said the brightest come to the top after third grade? I agree the child will be great in the base program. In no way would this child be the brightest kid in base...

My DD has had consistently 4s and couple 3s in Art and music. I haven't received her scores in the mail yet zip code 20171. Just now saw the GBRS form at the FCPS website and now understand what it means. Child is in 1st grade. I have not received acceptance letter.

Is the date for appealing over? Also would be grateful to know. What I can do to try to get my child into AAP. She is reading chapter books. Is very good at math and word problems. Her teacher had said do.

I did read and understand that I can get a wisc test at GMU. Thanks.

The selection happens in 2nd grade to start in 3rd grade.

Just call GMU and ask them. They will tell you how long it will take. They are used to the rush around this time and might have extra people working on it.

Thanks for the feedback. based on the feedbacks, i dont think i can attach wisc score to appeal or even appeal. may be my DD can try out next year.
But please note that this doesnt make my DD less smart:
1) She repeats any songs after she listens to it for 2 times
2) Recently won a math olympiad prize
3) also a gifted chess player

Those are average scores especially for an FCPS classroom. Many children in general ed are much brighter.

You don't think most FCPS kids have IQs in the low 100s? Average is 90-110 range. If they tested every kid, pp's kid would be smack in the middle.

Last year COGAT - 134.
This year COGAT - 119.

He got less in COGAT this year because we have moved to new county and he is depressed that he lost all his friends.

So, we are planning to submit with new WISC V results and last year COGAT results.

Will he be in AAP ? Any idea ?

His last year COGAT score was 119. and GBRS was 6. But now, I am planning to submit with new WISC score (FSIQ 139) , 2nd grade LOudoun county COGAT results - 134. and certificates and recommendation letters. Also, I amplanning to write a letter on my son that his COGAT exam was conducted exactly the same month which we moved to the fairfax county from loudoun county. The transition time to adjust was so long and he could not do well for the COGAT exam that was conducted in fairfax. Not sure , If he will be in

His (3RD GRADE) COGAT score was 119. and GBRS was 6. But now, I am planning to submit with new WISC score (FSIQ 139) , 2nd grade LOudoun county COGAT results - 134. and certificates and recommendation letters.
