Can you please elaborate on the pros and cons of using the base school vs. the center?

Do all the kids that go to the base school level iv have to be admitted by the ap committee?

I would appreciate any info on this.

Not PP but it is very center specific. Our school has a "robust" local level IV but we sent our 3 kids to the center- best decision ever. Go to the open house, ask questions, keep an open mind. Frankly- that whole "keep your kid next to the neighborhood" is just not applicable in many cases. First of all, our local level IV is clicky - so was glad to get away and relieved that the center was NOT clicky. I can brush it off, but it transcended to the kids and it was just a mini high school in the making. We live in a neighborhood zoned to local level IV base and friendship-wise it made NO difference. They play and are friends with everyone. I am sure someone will pipe in on the cons of going to a center but this has been our very consistent positive experience (parents and kids).

Thanks a lot. Did you visit both open houses? How did you find out about the clicks in the base school. We are also moving, so our school will be new.

What school?

20171 is our zip code. I rather not mention the school.

Yes we did. We felt the presentations were very different as well. Going to the orientation at the base, you can see who got in and at the center, who is considering going to the center. If you know any parents of children at the center, talk to them. We made the decision (not our children) - it was a change so they were nervous. After a few weeks, they each said they did not miss the base school.
