| Did JO know this was going to happen when he took the job? |
Their email says that they knew from the 20th, which means they knew for weeks before that! |
TSJ management has known for at least 4 weeks. |

While I can certainly understand being mad about the apparent deception… if you’re a parent of a returning player on one of these teams, didn’t you see that team struggle this past season? Don’t you want your child to be competing at a level that is appropriate for them? Maybe it will be more fun for your child to compete in a setting where they have a chance to win some games then to get demolished week after a week. I get that everyone wants the prestige of a badge on a jersey, but at the end of the day, isn’t it about appropriate competition?
And if you had one of the better players on a team that was struggling, I assume you were already looking elsewhere anyway? Really not trying to defend TSJ leadership they seem like a mess. And people should rightly be mad at them for not disclosing this information sooner. But I guess I’m trying to understand the logic of wanting your daughter to play in a league that they probably aren’t quite good enough for or the team would not have struggled so much. |
They most certainly did. I doubt anyone will sue though - wouldn’t benefit their kid. |
Parents should get released from any financial commitment and free to check out other clubs. If the club knowingly took payment for something they knew they weren’t going to be able to provide, they should issue refunds and releases or expect to hear from attorneys. |
This here. Sadly, I think some parents just enjoy the "prestige" of telling people their daughter plays on a "national team" that travels the country for soccer. |
That’s actually not really the case with families I know. Their girls love soccer, and everyone’s told you need ECNL/GA if you want to play in college. At this point, the girls have become close so are having fun even though they lose. 🤷 |
I agree. Those players have no say in the matter. They were thrown into a league they were not prepared for. And still, the girls had fun, bonded and developed good friendships. I think going down to Aspire will be quite healthy for them. They should get a few W's under their belts and not face so many blow outs. It will work out better for them next year. |
I get what you are saying about the girls staying together and possibly having better outcomes in Aspire but do you really trust the club leadership after this debacle of promising one thing and now delivering another. They knew all along and still try to get unknowing customers to fall for it. Just a mess but if you think staying is a good thing then good for you. |
They absolutely belong in Aspire or an even lower league but how do you move forward with trust? How do you know they are not lying about everything? |
Who signed the letter? One of the STJ owners? Adam? |
The other thread pasted the whole letter. It was signed by JO |
| I am not at STJ, but I have experienced this. It is not the STJ fault, except the poor results. The league tells the clubs when they can announce when they are accepted to GA or relegated to Aspire. The club can’t make that announcement until they are given the go ahead. The same thing happened at NVA and Charlotte last year. If you are mad, be mad at the league for allowing IDs and acceptances before they let the club make the announcement they are in a different league/level. |
| GA did the right thing. You can’t suddenly jump from Rec to GA using TSJ as a back door and claim you are trying to play college soccer. The club teams were a punch bag. |
