Phenomenal? Didn’t they go 0-3 at Jefferson cup? Are there any other phenomenal teams in the area in any age group for comparison? |
The only phenomenal teams in the area are VDA 08/07. Maybe Arlington 11s. Fairfax Union 10s no longer exist and we have idea how the Bethesda 10s will do but they are probably closest to VDAs team. VDA 09s were close but failed at playoffs and don’t look like last years team. Bethesda 11s are similar to VDA 09s. Phenomenal in my mind is any ECNL or GA team that makes final 4 of either GA or ECNL Nationals. My only exception would be top 8 on that Soccer App ranking. I would classify any GA team in the area as phenomenal. Armour 10s were over a year ago but not anymore. FCV had some phenomenal teams but they are long gone now. |

Please elucidate us on what you have done that was phenomenal under your definition. Because based on your post I bet you have never accomplished anything more than luke warm or tepid. But yes, please tell us more of your inane thoughts. |
You said phenomenal. Top GA teams compete with mid table GA teams all day long. Hence, mid table ECNL teams are not phenomenal. NOVA or MD does not have any great top ECNL teams except VDA. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. To add to it, there are a few top GA teams in the US that would give the very best ECNL teams a run if not win such as the 2010 Tophat team. Again, sorry if you are not on one of those VDA teams and your feelings are hurt. If it makes you feel any better, our DDs never played for VDA either. |

This whole thread is almost worthless now. It's devolved into the same old, "ECNL is better. No, GA will soon rule," type of thread.
Why do some of you insist on spoiling everything? You should just make your own GA versus ECNL thread and argue back and forth amongst yourselves. |
So to summarize, definitely not the SYC 2012’s. |
Are you talking about the VDA team that lost to Arlington? |
I already defined what I consider phenomenal which may mean different to others. FYI, my eldest is in graduate school, played in both DA and ECNL. I am on my second time around. I have been reading and posting here for years. The biggest thing I have always noticed is that parents at the younger ages without experience have no idea. I was the same way with my eldest. U14 and under mean absolutely nothing. Until kids are full grown, you don’t know how they will stack up. I’ve watched pedestrian players turn into P4 players in just two years. Second time around I am a little more wiser. Youngest is currently in GA even though I know ECNL is better competition. I care more about the coach and her surroundings than I do the ECNL badge. If she were to find an ECNL team with a coach and team she liked, she would probably switch but time will tell. |
1-1 |
Yes, they lost to Charlotte as well. Again, Senior year works a little different than other years. Almost the whole team is already committed. Girls tend to be more social first Senior year after committing, as they should. I am guessing a few are probably going to graduate this December. What that team did at ECNL playoffs was pretty remarkable. Same goes for VA Union. NOVA teams U15 and up almost never do well in playoffs because of Spring High School soccer. So yeah, maybe not phenomenal this season. Good call. |
VDA 08 made it to the final 4 in ECNL. Heck of an accomplishment. Losing to a winless Arlington team seems like more of an anomaly than the norm. Doesn’t everyone on this board talk about performance at playoffs? |

Well that was fun….
This weeks GA games looks like games to shuffle around the table some outside of any club that plays STJ. Beginning to feel sorry them. Important games for everyone else! |
NP Here, my DD is U13 now and I often wonder what it takes to go from good player at U12 and under to college bound player in 5 years time. I have also witnessed a few new kids to soccer, really step up and shine in 2 years time. Makes me wonder about how kids will play after they go through puberty on the Girls side. |
