The Five school districts with Title IX violations, how much money do they stand to lose?

You seem to think that there is some sort of “silent majority” that opposes this, but lacks the courage to stand up for its convictions. Sometimes the loudest and most numerous voices do really reflect the majority opinion. I generally keep my mouth shut in public because I don’t want to deal with death threats from MAGA pedophiles in flyover country, but I support 100% what the school board is doing.
.

Curious how folks who disagree with APS trans policy might be concerned about labeling from dogmatic progressives. You can hear yourself right?

Sorry if it hurts your feelings, but these anti-trans activists are absolutely unhinged and they are firing off death threats. They like to “protect women and girls” by threatening the lives of women and girls. I can’t make it make sense.

Most dems aren’t anti-trans, they just want them in their own space just like boys and girls have their own space.

If “most Dems” do in fact support separate spaces, it would seem to be a great opportunity for one of these Dems to run for school board.

Not most Ds in Arlington.

“Violent trans activists”? In Arlington?

Not most Ds in Arlington.

At a minimum, most Ds in Arlington support the rule of law. Not everyone is comfortable ignoring binding precedent simply because we don’t like the outcome. It’s not like this Administration has shown an ounce of respect for the rule of law or the Constitution. It’s fair to look at this outrageous, politically motivated demand from Trump and friends and wonder what’s next.

I haven't seen the death threats against the trans community.

However, have you heard about the Catholic school in Minneapolis? Or the Christian school in Nashville? Suggest you do a little research before you cast stones.

She says for door knockers to focus on Trump, which seems smart.

I can picture it now.
Door knocker: Trump is taking funding away from our kids’ schools!
Person answering door: Oh no! Why is he doing that?
Door knocker: um…. Hey, see that butterfly?

It’s kind of ridiculous to talk about the schools being defunded but avoid mentioning why or what could be done to change that.

Yes, that’s at the crux of this whole thing. Replacing objective fact (biological sex) with subjective identity/feeling (gender identity).

And you would have APS do what - do physical checks of kids' genitalia before allowing a kid to use a particular bathroom?

No. But, if there is a complaint, it should be investigated.

Do you really think that people did not complain about the pervert in Arlington and Fairfax locker rooms?

Investigate how - with a genitalia check to ensure the person is female enough for you?

the pervert in the Arlington locker room (outside of school hours) was a sex offender, who never should have been near any locker room of either gender. I don't get your take because unlike you I'm not ok with such a person being in the boys room either. The gender of the room he entered wasn't relevant; he should not have been allowed in to either room.

Why are you people so obsessed with imaginary genitalia checks? Sex can be determined bye eyesight 99% of the time. If there is any question, then a cheek swab will suffice.

Go peddle your hysterics somewhere else.

Or how about we keep the policy to let each student select the restroom that aligns with their gender identity instead of giving someone else the job of monitoring their sexuality. You're the one who's peddling hysterics, most of us are fine with the policy as is.

+1 million

Translated into legal language, you are taking the position that where there is a conflict of rights between sex-based rights and gender-based rights, as there is here, you do not think girls and boys should retain sex-based rights.

I do not think you can truly assert most people are okay with that position.

and yet most in Arlington ARE ok with it.

For now, when things get cut or there are massive legal bills will they still support this tiny minority?

Yes, we will protect our vulnerable kids from the bigots and raging a-hole MAGAs.

And who is protecting the students who will lose special education services and meals due to these policies?

Certainly not Trump or the Republicans who have made our kids pawns in their political games.

Don’t blame APS for following the law while Trump fcks around and pulls these ridiculous stunts.

Biden started this game when he made funds contingent on schools endorsing trans nonsense.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

I suspect there are many of us in Arlington who are those of us appalled by much of the administrations actions. But, I also suspect that there are a lot of people like me who do not believe that gender identity should replace sex identity when it comes to bathrooms and sports, and we think that affording those children who require a private bathroom a reasonable solution to a difficult problem. Painting this issue as a Trump created problem is inaccurate for me at least.

Threatening to withhold funding (instead of changing the law) is 100% a Trump issue. That is the topic of this thread.

Trump pulled this stunt, not APS.

Wrong again. Biden started this. Trump is just continuing it, and now you’re complaining because voters prefer Trump.

Histrionics about Trump and the admin are not persuasive to me on this issue. I am an Arlingtonian. I typically vote Democratic. I don’t like much of what the Admin is doing, but I definitely don’t like that APS has decided to spend taxpayer dollars on a really expensive law firm on enforcing gender based sex rules. Which by the way, everyone thinks the Supreme Court will overturn. So, in my view, they are just flushing our money down the toilet which could be spent on, I don’t know, foreign languages before 7th grade, theater programs, preschool, and a million other things that could benefit way more students. I feel like it’s posturing for the benefit of board members and the superintendent to further their own political agenda/career at the expense of most of our students.

And then what will you be screaming when my view IS the rule of law.

Just curious - have you drawn any firm conclusions about the white Christian men that make up like 99% of all school shooters?

And for Minneapolis, I don’t know that a claimed de-transitioner is your best example.

Do you somehow think that public school board meetings with named speakers are magically unavailable to the people worldwide who send graphic death, rape, and torture threats? Do you deny that those threats happen?

It’s bizarre you think that Arlington is sealed off from the rest of the internet.

Then it is what it is. Or I’ll argue that we should ignore it, because why not, Texas schools seem to be having a great time ignoring the First Amendment.

Kind of silly to think that Trump is going to stop with trans kids, though. Muller is getting off on bullying liberal schools. Every university that has capitulated to date has just gotten even more debasing demands.
