This is the problem right here.

It is not a problem that the federal government funds a lot of everyday institutions. Why should it be a problem? It is our government. We put money into it and receive money from it.

The federal government shouldn't be involved in everything. There is separation of powers. If everything is dependent on the federal government, that is a major problem.

What’s your proposal? State rights? Just end the federal government and operate as basically separate countries? Good luck red states!!!

No but the feds shouldn't be involved in everything.

Feds are a complete failure trying to control education. Also disaster relief. Trump showed the world how horrific that is.

People don’t realize how much fed grant money is used to make a lot of local efforts fu croon. I just got an email for a national non-profit that has put an entire program on hold (improving local land use/transportation and Econ mobility) because of so much uncertainty on DOT fu ding. This grant has been used or years by poorer local towns across the country who can’t afford regular transportation or planning staff.

Yea I think rural communities are going to be the first to feel the grant freeze.

Zero.
And we’ll move into negative territory when tax receipts go down because of the economic crash Trump is causing.

The story of a tiny nonprofit in West VA, which still hasn't had its money from HHS unfrozen and has laid off 3 of its 5 employees. They help people with disabilities be able to live in their homes instead of moving into a care facility.

Tomorrow they're supposed to take an 86-year-old woman to her dialysis appointment.

There's thousands of small organizations all over the country like this - this is what Trump and Musk are destroying.

So now Musk cuts have cost 2 jobs in West Va and an elderly person will most likely have to go into a govt funded facility ($$$) instead of staying in her home! I guess the government can take her house to recoup the nursing facility cost.

Great job DOGE

If they're really concerned about saving money, why are they trying to get rid of the debt ceiling?

Education primarily decided at the state level that’s how Alabama/Mississippi/Louisiana can proudly hold the bottom spots.

We will all survive this. Trump likes to throw things up and disrupt the system. He isn't actually taking 100% of all this seriously knowing some things won't stick. We all need to remember that so much of this is almost an act - he's a tactical not strategic person so people who get so worked up about him need to calm down. Understand your enemy so to speak lol!!

He is an ape throwing his sh$t at the wall and seeing if it sticks.

pretty much and he doesn't give a damn about his gullible MAGA voters.
