Anyone surprised by any of the privates' success or lack thereof?

The surprise is that none have really done as well or at least better than Churchill which is public!

The Asians and South Asians are cleaning up this year in these post-Supreme Court decision times. The privates can't compete because they don't have many Asians and those they have were not necessarily the highest achievers in their feeders schools (prior to coming to private).
(Not Asian myself but calling a spade a spade---look at all the Instagrams--it is clear!!)

yes--absolutely. It's clear on almost every Instagram page.
I've been obsessively watching these pages for the past 2-3 years and there is a definite shift this year.

I'm not posting this to start yet an endless debate about how college admissions should be handled but there is a noticeable uptick in Asians this year---at my 2 kid's private schools and pretty much on every Instgram post
both here and in other cities (I follow others as well).

Interesting. Anecdotally, the two Harvard admits I know personally are Asian/So Asian.

That's because they are smarter.

Not PP but I’m guessing it’s very hard to see Churchill and Whitman’s (just two examples) college matriculations if you’ve spent hundreds of thousands or more on privates

DP. No most of us would never send to public school. It is a very different community. No regrets here. The private school kids from the DMV seem to find each other at their colleges. I don't hear much mention of public school kids. Not sure why this is but their paths do not seem to cross socially. Different worlds. We are happy in the private school world and my child was accepted into their first choice school.

Oh my..are people really this clueless or insular? Similar kids, competitions, parties, etc. they meet and socialize all the time. SES drives the interaction more than public or private schools.

One of PP here but not all. I said my kids don't hang with public school kids often at Highschool or now in college. I did not say I want it that way. I am actually a public school person myself. I was just being honest that is our experience for whatever it is worth.

The surprise is that none have really done as well or at least better than Churchill which is public!

The Asians and South Asians are cleaning up this year in these post-Supreme Court decision times. The privates can't compete because they don't have many Asians and those they have were not necessarily the highest achievers in their feeders schools (prior to coming to private).

You keep trying to convince us, and yourselves, that you’re “receiving a private school education for free.” However, the truth is that you’re receiving what you’ve paid for: a public school education for free. That’s why, on average, the outcomes are different. Despite your trespassing on this thread, our experiences are not the same.

They are a small school (50-60 kids per grade)and a school also known to accommodate mild learning challenges (eg, adhd). The results are very strong.
