TWSB Nutcracker 2023!

I can say with 100% certainty that there is always a cyber Monday sale for 50% off. The issue was that it’s select shows for people who are planning they just have to suck it up and pay what they’re willing to pay for tickets. I have a kid at the school, but not in the ballet but we have a friend who is professional, so we always go see her dance sugarplum fairy. I was so glad to get the tickets for half off. For the future if you can hold off on tickets, you will get the email about the cyber Monday. I don’t even think the code changes year to year.

Anonymous wrote:Why on earth does Emerald have so many Arc rehearsals if they don't even perform there???? Can Friday be just Pearl and not Emerald? it feels like such a pain to drive over there on Friday for sections of rehearsal that are Emerald only

gotta spread the pain of going there since they're the only cast not performing there

3 casts perform there, 3 dont.
It just makes no sense to have a jewel only performance of one that isn't going to use that stage.
For the role specific rehearsals of all casts, fine. But rehearsals of just a Jewel that isn't performing there??? A complete waste of parents time

It's not just about the dancers needing to practice on THEARC stage. The dancers need to rehearse regardless of the space they are in. Since studio rehearsals are over, the rehearsals move to THEARC for that period of time- for everyone.

Yes, which everyone considers the real opening night. Thearc are warm up shows

I have never heard Donna, the people I know in the Company, or the school or anyone refer to that viewpoint. What does the portal say? It sounds like you think THEARC is leas important so why don’t you clarify why — what does “everyone” say?

At Warner last weekend the Artistic Director came on to the stage at the start of the show and welcomed the whole audience to "Opening Weekend" so now you have heard it. I don't know why you are making an issue out of this. They do the run of their show at Warner, it was opening night. The experience at Warner is so massively different from Thearc

How are we all feeling after the hours driven and the money for tickets for our kid's 60 seconds on the stage?

DD isn’t doing it this year but we loved backstage and the Sugar Plum Shoppe. We attended and didn’t like the mice costume change or the bald eagle costume.

Feeling great, my daughter is having a wonderful time and all the driving, money and effort are for her enjoyment.

I know there are lots of TWSB parents here! New parent to the studio--DD is tall and in an upper level (5+). Do those kids perform in the Nutcracker? If yes, does anybody know what roles correspond to which levels?

Also--is it a possibility that kids who audition are not cast?

Thanks in advance.

They can choose to audition, not every kid is cast, but most are.
Not every older kid participates because its a massive time commitment - basically every weekend from end of September through the new year.
Level 5s can usually be Little butterflies or Frontier girls. **Generally** before people jump down my throat with outliers - the break down is:

PB3 - Mushrooms, Bees
1a - Snow Angels
1b Snow Angels, Mice
2 Mice, Party, Flower Pages
Soldiers - level 2 through level 4’s
Clowns - level 3,4a,4b
Little butterflies 4b,5
5,6,7 Frontier
8 Chinese, Ribbon Dancer

*** Party starts at Level 2, but can go up through the 4s
A lot of roles are going to be dependent on height of the dancer
