Totally agree. If they want to publish a signed resolution, that's okay, I guess. I mean, really, it seems superfluous to me. but, far too much time is spent on them. But, then, that's a lot easier than discussing real business. |
I think we all know that, but most are Muslim and it seems a little like doubling down to do both so close together. |
"do not use their own critical thinking" describes everyone who votes for any Republican candidate for school board in every recent election. The last McLean-based candidate, running at-large, was a traitor who joined the terrorists on the Mall on January 6. The big attention-getter this time is violent wife-beating thug Harry Jackson running in Hunter Mill. Everyone else the GOP endorses is also a Trump cultist wanting to initiate creeping theocracy and fascism in the schools through book-bannings and demonizing gays and minorities. You don't hear any of them talk about real issues that ordinary parents care about. There is much that needs improvement in our largely terrific school system (I have 3 kids in FCPS right now), but the GOP isn't offering any alternative voices on any of that. |
LOL, which immature local Republican child are you? You're obviously one of the wingnuts who tried to join FCDC when you're not a Democrat. I'm on FCDC and, to other readers out there, not only have Dems not been kicked out, there were a couple who publicly refused to vote for certain Democratic candidates in recent general elections and still had FCDC membership approved for the subsequent membership term. It's amazing what b.s. some of you feel "safe" posting under the handle "Anonymous." |
This is exactly right. GOP on its way to another election toward local extinction. The last Republican who might survive this time is Herrity (Clerk of Court will flip), and that seat, too, eventually will fall to Democrats. Local Republicans are Trump cultists and broadly despised here, rightly so. |
You can always point out the blue Virginia crowd by the throwing around of "maga: towards anyone from moderate dems to centrists and right of center. It definitely dilutes the word. |
I had a kid at a 900 student school. Unless the cafeteria is enormous, once an elementary school hits 800 students, you end up with a situation where some students must eating their lunch an hour after school starts, where others don't get to eat lunch until around an hour before the end of the day. My kid was at a 900 student school. One year their lunch was 75 minutes after the start of school. They went from a morning lunch to an approximately 4PM dismissal. It was awful. A school system as wealthy as FCPS should never have an elementary school larger than 600-700 students, especially one that was caused by a school board member who prioritizes dogs and childless millenials over children. Any party that endorses a candidate like Frisch should not be listened to when elections roll around. |
Amen! While I understand the Teacher Who Loves Huge Schools’ point that our dense neighborhoods aren’t conducive to smaller schools, she misses the point that the entire reason parents are mad at Frisch is BECAUSE we actually had a rare chance to have another school build amidst these dense townhome neighborhoods that WOULD have made the schools smaller, and he derailed it. Parents don’t like 900+ student schools. And just because little kids aren’t roaming the halls doesn’t mean they don’t get overwhelmed… the cafeteria, school assemblies, after school activities, dismissal, all these are chaos with schools this large and Kindergartners are in the thick of all of it. I do agree with her, though, that class size is an even bigger issue. But I like to think that a “top school district” in the US could do well on BOTH those issues? |
What about Mafia Don Melanie Meren who doxes parents that make critical comments about her performance (considering she can't work 7 hrs a day) on Facebook posts, copying their employer, in an attempt to get them fired? There is also the child porn and pedophilia she doubled down on, blamed and shamed rape victims, and has ties to the Loudon Love Warriors who have advocated for shooting, dismembering, and killing those of the opposition. |
You’ve side-stepped the point, which is that Bartkowski’s anemic web page reads like a standard list of MAGA gripes when it comes to public education. It’s not tailored to the specific concerns of Dranesville parents at all. |
+1. Frisch is quite possibly the worst member of the current board. There is no way in hell he should get another term. In his case ANYONE would be better. |
+1 Or, how about the SB member who claimed police brutality and that she was targeted because of her faith. But, when the video was shown, it turns out that she 1) had clearly run the red light: 2) refused to cooperate with the policeman and give him her license; 3) refused to get out of the car; 4) etc. "creeping theocracy" how about the insistence to put in rooms where students can go to pray? I don't think that came from the right wing. And, tonight, our SB is mentioning a specific religion in one of its resolutions. That didn't come from the GOP. "book banning" you don't find it troubling that there should be a graphic novel in our library featuring pictures of teens engaging in sexual acts to include using sex toys? FYI, no one is calling for "book banning." The books can be published and sold, They can be found in public libraries. But, school libraries should have appropriate books for minors. Should tax money be spent on trash? |
You sound bat-sh*t crazy but Hunter Mill deserves better than Meren: Paul Thomas is challenging her for the Democratic endorsement. |
Well yes, FCPS has money but if they spend it on proper management of facilities where will they get the funds to pay consultants to do things that are the duties of salaried staff? How would they be able to spend thousands on zoom speakers and books to inform them that they are racist? Won’t someone think of the parasitical entities that thrive off the blood of the tax money allocated for the education of our children? |
| Of course the FCDC will endorse Frisch. His campaign raises about 10X as much as the typical School Board candidate, mostly from rich LBGTQ donors in NYC and California. He then redistributes a large chunk of this money to other local campaigns. He’s garbage as a School Board member but he’s a useful tool as a bag man. |
